T205 Experts

Hello Everyone,

Just wondered if anyone else was watching this Hassan backed T205 auction on eBay. I was the under-bidder on the lot, and I would have bid more if I had the cash. I liked the condition of the cards and the fact that they all were Hassan backed. I'm especially curious to know what the experts think is the value of the Irvine Wilhelm with the corrected "suffered" spelling on the reverse of the card?

I'm no expert, but based on VCP, the Wilhelm alone was worth almost $1000, even in poor condition.

If the open mouth Bresnahan grades a 5 (it might even grade higher), then that's worth another $500.

I considered bidding on that lot, but passed because I just don't like the risk of high profile ungraded cards.

No doubt that the Hassan WIlhelm is what drove the price up of this lot.
It's a pretty hard card to find.

A few of the other cards look nice from a glance, if not trimmed they look higher grade than your run of the mill T205. Like Raymond for example, that could be pretty expensive if it's full size and as clean as it looks from my quick view.

Same with Bresnahan mouth open, looks pretty good and would be maybe 250-300 pretty easily. Graded 5/6 or better it could go much higher. Others look really nice from a distance.

So the buyer got a pretty good looking lot. In hand it would be possible to tell if they got a sweet deal or not. Certainly the speculation on the grades led to a pretty high bid price, so I think someone knew that they could do well on the lot if everything plays out.

Best of luck to that buyer!

Attic finds always seem to prove to be either really great or really disappointing.:rolleyes:

They look authentic but several look trimmed. Not a horrible price even so.

Sweet lot overall. Agree with the above poster that the Wilhelm variation is a $1k card alone.

I was trying to figure out what was going on with the right border on Bresnahan. Almost looked like it was touched by black pen, but could very well just be 'rolling' of the gold leaf that has tarnished overtime.

Raymond looks to be EX+ and could easily be in the $400-500 range IMO. I'd be very interested to see how these grade out.

Hopefully they get shipped. If the seller thinks he left $1000 on the table, he may cancel the listing.

Thanks for all of the comments. I think that someone got a very good buy. I hope it was a Net54 member.

Best regards,

Joe

I was the Winning Bidder and am appreciative of ALL of the comments and opinions - REALLY!

Even though I have been after these things for a while, one NEVER knows when buying raw from a picture any more...

I needed the Bresnahan Open Mouth AND the Wilhelm. The Raymond is nicer than mine, too - so it seemed like a good buy from my stand point.

Most, if not all, of the cards will be sent for grading and those that I cannot use will be made available here first, of course!

I would REALLY appreciate more opinions & comments, too!

I don't know about the cards as much as I will be happy with some leftovers made available. :)

In the worst case scenario, still a good deal. Hopefully they grade out well, if so an amazing catch.

^^I agree^^ Especially after being outed before they even had a chance to be shipped. Would be far from the first time a Net54 member ruined a completed eBay sale.:(

Hopefully they grade out. It seems the grading companies are much tougher to get number grades from now than they were previously. I hope they are truly an untouched find. There are a lot of scammers on ebay.

Congrats! I honestly never even looked at that auction since the cards looked a little to nice for my collection! I'm very excited for you for finding the Wilhelm!

Eggoman 02-01-2017 11:30 AM

THANK YOU - I'm feeling it!

GOT A "HEADS-UP" that the cards have shipped!!!

Now as long as they get here AND as long as they get to PSA or SGC (unsure as yet) AND they get NUMERICAL grades AND they get back home to me...

YIKES!!! ;););)

Northviewcats 02-01-2017 01:11 PM

Congratulations Greg. I hope that you get good results with the grading, but even if you don't the group is well worth the price you paid raw. It would be one heck of a Hanssan backed collection.

Best regards,

Joe

Please let us know how it turns out. I'll say the Bresnahan pops a 6 and the Raymond a 5.5.

EvilKing00 02-01-2017 07:48 PM

Looks like a good deal

Eggoman 02-02-2017 05:56 AM

Again, I appreciate the support & opinions! I ABSOLUTELY will let all know how I did!

I have this lot in hand and they look AMAZING...except for Kaiser Wilhelm!

When a T205 looks THIS nice, there is no better looking card IMO!

The size is spot on, no touch ups, clean edges, nice, nice, nice!

Now, will PSA agree with me....

Wish me luck!

rats60 02-03-2017 11:44 AM

If the Bresnahan and Raymond get numbers, it will be a home run. Good luck.

Leon 02-06-2017 09:09 AM

Those cards really do look great. Keep us updated.

I am DELIGHTED to say that the 3 "big cards" from this purchase just came back from PSA WITH numbers - and GOOD ones at that. The others will be off to PSA or SGC soon - as soon as I decide AND get around to it!

Sometimes "Estate Attic Finds" REALLY are just that!!!Attachment 264721
