Good luck Leon...what is the procedure to receive a catalog? By the way, this is most varied and interesting vintage card auction I have seen in my collecting career (we are talking decades).

I have the same question and observation!

Leon 07-08-2015 05:25 PM

You guys are the best... Every member who wants a catalog will get one. Let me check but i know they were shipped yesterday (from what I was told) with the Platinum Night catalogs. Also, many members that bid in their card auctions will get one too. You can email Peter Calderon for help with a catalog.

thanks

Leon, I just checked out the link to your collections auction and man, there are so many cool items on there. Many that I wasn't familiar with. Really really cool.
Good luck on the auction.

Enfuego 07-08-2015 06:27 PM

I would like a catalog too!

Peter_Spaeth 07-08-2015 06:28 PM

The world record for posts in a thread is currently at 1504 on Burkett's T206 thread. But if everyone here posts when they place bids and when they get the catalog, maybe we can break that?

shernan30 07-08-2015 06:28 PM

Some really neat pieces. Hope to add a few to my collection. Good luck Leon.

I would be ok with that :). Seriously, I think I bid in a lot of auctions and if I were bidding (I am not) I would probably find something to interest me. By definition it is diverse....but some things will be too rare for their own good. I always tried to keep the very best of what I got for my collection, as any true collector would. :) Its been a lot of fun collecting it. Good luck to everyone bidding.

clydepepper 07-08-2015 06:55 PM

Great items, Leon - I have made my first bids and would appreciate a catalog.

Thanks,
Raymond

Does this auction end August 13? I do not see the end date specifically mentioned : Just an Auction date of August 13 and Auction Preview dates of 7/1-7/24; 7/29-8/1 & 8/5-8/13
.
.
Please excuse my ignorance if this is an obvious answer...just not used to the particular formatting.

So many great cards. Good luck everyone.

Even if I don't win anything I think my bids will cover a week or two.

Truly a once in a lifetime auction for a great cause!

Good luck, Leon!

mrvster 07-08-2015 08:32 PM

Leon....

catalogue please:)

matty and overprint my top ten cards of all time....

btw........your matty proof is one of a handful of very special "proto type" proofs...cards that never made it into the set.........cards that were not part of the final production card...

the matty is one of them..as I'm sure you know..8 unknown (now known) southern leaguers..also some from the first print group...nichols, shulte, alperman, pastorious, McIntyre, and the unissued collins..just WOW!!!.....that card ALONE is a small piece of history....basically part of the original designs of the set:eek:

my my.....

btw....hundreds of t206 proofs discovered was not the case!! I had spoke with one of the original collectors who purchased a few proofs and was there.....there were less than 80 or so t206 PROOFS that were brought to light at the '72 show.....about 33 of them are documented so far......the rest are either "lost" over the years or just tucked away in collectors who do not advertise them.....INCREDIBLE STUFF! the lines were omitted on the cap and not part of the original artwork....WOW!

the multi strike is basically the "T206 ROSETTA STONE".......

I can not express the sheer significance of these 2 cards on the set....

must have been tough to part with leon.....I wish I could afford either....

:)

Northviewcats 07-08-2015 08:38 PM

Good luck

Good luck Leon. Wonderful collection. I hope you receive record prices.

So you won't be shilling your cards Leon? Well I guess that's good to know. :D

Publius 07-08-2015 08:47 PM

Did you have to pay yourself banner add fees to be able to advertise your own collection being sold? :)

It's a monopoly or something like that. :)

And to answer Sean, no, no shilling here, whatever happens freaking happens. Win some lose some. I always thought that is how auctions should usually be (no reserve)....so I am practicing what I preach, so to say. :)

Kenny Cole 07-08-2015 09:02 PM

Not to worry Leon, I am bidding many of them up for you ;)

Econteachert205 07-08-2015 09:13 PM

I've got my eye on a couple of things... Really amazing stuff.

sycks22 07-08-2015 09:45 PM

Just threw in some bids, amazing collection

AddieJoss 07-08-2015 10:19 PM

Bids are in and hoping to win many of them, just not all of them..lol

And yes, some items are too rare and with so many lots, a lot of research is needed to understand those items.

Great auction, I love that it's basically just cards and not a bunch of baseballs and bats and cleats, etc.

unamuzd1 07-08-2015 11:21 PM

Catalog request sent - really amazing stuff!

BeanTown 07-09-2015 01:47 AM

Final hammer price

So, can we have a contest to see who gets closest to the final price of the entire auction?!?! Great stuff Leon and I hope a couple pieces come back home.

bobbyw8469 07-09-2015 04:44 AM

Leon....what made you decide to go with Heritage instead of some of the other players in the auction world? I have always been intrigued by them, but just think of them as too big to handle collections properly. Did they give you a sweet deal on commission rates?

Yogi would say, nobody uses them any more, they're too big.

OldEnglishD 07-09-2015 07:29 AM

A truly amazing collection.

Best of luck to you Leon and all the bidders (especially me :D).

Dave
