Maybe there were only a couple of folks willing to go above $2,340 for the box. So, once one bought the first one the next guy had no one to bid against him. I have seen similar things with rare (or seldom seen) ticket stubs. In my case, it was for stubs from games in which Koufax pitched. I would see one on eBay and bid up to $X and it would sell for $X+1. The next week, lo and behold the seller would have another one for sale - with the seat number next to the first one. Sometimes I would get it for $X/2. Other times, I was the guy who paid $X+1 and when I saw the next one I would buy the other to lower my average price (ok, I am just weird).
Or, maybe one guy had a real issue with REA and refused to bid on their auctions. Or, he was getting married. Or, he already spent his card allotment. Lots of reasons why someone may or may not bid. And, when the item isn't a T206 Cobb/Cobb there is a more limited universe of interested buyers.
