100 Frogs

Alan's post on the French cards he found got me to thinking it might be fun to post some others. So, have at it!

I will kick off with 1 of my favorites: 1954 (?) Brasserie Motte Cordonnier Robert Cohen. Cohen was a world champion bantamweight (1954-1956) originally from Algeria.

Adam, a timely post on your part, as I will have quite a few cards to add to this thread over the next few weeks.

For now, this is certainly one of my favorite cards of one of my favorite fighters...1930s Chicoree Belle Jardiniere Panama Al Brown.

The French have a fine history of postcard manufacture. Here is Victor "Young" Perez:

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...per20Young.jpg

Perez lost only 28 of 134 bouts and scored 27 knockouts; During his career, he won the NBA Flyweight Championship of the World, the IBU Flyweight Championship of the World and the Flyweight Championship of France. Perez was arrested by local police on October 10, 1943, and deported to the Auschwitz death camp in Poland. According to reports, Perez was forced to fight in the bi-weekly boxing matches at the camp. The fights were bet on by the Nazi officers in command of the camp. The winners of these matches were awarded with bread and soup, while the loser was executed. Perez went on to fight twice a week, every week, for the next 15 months, reportedly scoring 140 straight knockout victories. In 1945, Perez was evacuated from the camp on a "death march." It was reported that on the road near a camp called Gleiwitz, Perez attempted to pass bread through a fence to another inmate, and was shot and killed by Nazi guards.

Oh, did I mention it is autographed?

That second Siki card is OUTFREAKINSTANDING!!!!!

It ain't a fight; it's an exhibition.

I actually like the 1st Siki card more; reminds me of a Toulouse Lautrec print.
