Picked this up. The Giants did a "Tour of Japan" in the preseason from 1960-71. I found a picture of Bobby Bonds (little Barry to the left), toting this type of bag through SFO on March 31, 1970. The bag came from a guy who has some other personal effects of Bonds, so there's a possibility this was Bobby's...

Also, this. The seller is a little prone to hyperbole and says this patch is made with the "same bullion thread they used in high quality WW II patches." At any rate, it's a nice patch. I'm guessing it may have been made for a blazer but I have no photo evidence.

These Hassan Cigarette comic pins are very common, with an endless number of variations, but this particular one has been quite elusive for me, as I've been looking for a while.

Thanks and you are right first I've seen from Kansas. Plus it's real tough to find things from the 20's -30's eras.

1944 Sampson US Naval Training Center vs. Lyconing Aviation program

Here is a cool pickup that I scored tonight on eBay related to Johnny Vander Meer's baseball stint in the Navy:

An original program to the game played on August 13, 1944 between The US Naval Training Center (Sampson, NY) vs. Laconing Aviation of Williamsport, PA.
Apparently Lyconing got smoked 14-1 in this one.
If you look at Vandy's team roster, it obviously stacked with several MLB players.
Sampson was apparently undefeated to other 22 other baseball teams that included the Cleveland Indians, Boston Braves, Boston Red Sox and Vandy's former ML Cincinnati Reds team up to this point in their season.
I can't imagine that many of these scorebooks survived WWII. Certainly primitive looking, but that was a sign of the times I suppose...

This is a great complimentary piece to other items that I own related to Vandy's stint at Sampson. I also included my favorite other piece from this era.
A signed photo of Vandy's entire basic training class (Company 347) at Sampson in March of 1944.
