Is this or was a Yellow Pennants?

Baseball Rarities 01-26-2023 03:51 PM

Yes, that blanket originally had yellow pennants and basepaths.

rdwyer 01-26-2023 03:53 PM

Thank you for the help. Oops, Pennants not Penchants. :)

So you can see the yellow

What's the icon out there at 2nd base? Almost looks like a trophy or a beehive or something?

Not sure the close-up helps much. Almost looks like an Easter egg!

It is supposed to be a catchers mask I believe

I keep staring at it, wondering if I'll eventually see it.

Ever since you invoked catchers, I could swear that I'm seeing a catcher's chest protector. The brown little shading at the top and bottom, plus on each side toward the top almost looks like where the neck and bottom torso stick out, plus the two arms on either side towards the top.

At the same time, the pattern on the surface doesn't really look like what I would expect for a catcher's chest protector.

Thanks for sharing. I think the dark background makes it easier to see the mask for what it is.

perezfan 01-29-2023 04:04 PM

It's a bead-weld catchers mask. Popular style, given the era. See link...

Thanks for sharing that info and that mask is actually a cool piece of history and would display nicely

brianp-beme 01-30-2023 01:51 AM

Why did the catcher fling his mask all the way to second base?

Brian...the fellow always asking the tough questions.

Just found out that SGC graded my B18 Jackson an "A" today. I'll post pictures when I get it back in a few days. :)

Aquarian Sports Cards 02-13-2023 03:55 PM

They don't give blankets numbers AFAIK so congrats!
