Nice 57s...picked up 2 more 52 Hi#s with the last 15% off coupon...down to 23 to go to finish the set.

JollyElm 10-01-2018 02:36 PM

Isn't it great when you have well-priced (for you, the buyer) cards saved on your watch list, and then ebay offers the 15% discount and you get them at a steal? Love it!!

Finished off my 1948 Bowman set. Graded Authentic (maybe the trim)? Used the 15% off on eBay and got a great deal. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...033a313b9.heic

Nice cards, SFMS!

Anytime the 15% off coupon or other deals come up, I can never seem to capitalize on them.
I've either spent my money just a few days prior or none of the cards that I need are available at the time.

BINs are usually too expensive for me even with the 15% off so I rarely even bother looking anymore.

Good luck with the other 23. I am looking forward to seeing you complete your set. :)

savedfrommyspokes 10-03-2018 08:50 AM

Thank you Irv.....the last 23 may take 2-3 years, please stay tuned! I have gotten lucky with the 15 % off coupons coming out and there being worthwhile product available. As the number I need grows smaller for this set, the tougher it will be to capitalize on these coupons.

Adding to the HOF Rookie collection. Ron arrived just in time to watch the Cubs have a very "Cubs" exit from the post season.

I think it would be amiss if I don’t mention how great the ‘57 Brooksie looks. Not a bad looking Koufax as well...

I still may upgrade my Eddie Murray RC, but at least for now these two pickups just completed my 1978 Topps set.

40th anniversary of the first set I collected as a kid.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b0b37dcbd9.jpg

Thanks, SFMS. I spotted it on ebay unlisted as a Yellow Tiger but it didn't take others long to also see it.

I ended up winning it on my last, wasn't going any higher bid.
Definitely glad to have it in my collection! :)

1965 Phillies tiles

Hi Gang:

I THOUGHT I completed this obscure 1965 Phillies ceramic tile set when I found the first Dick Stuart shown below.

Then I found out there is another Stuart. Either a variation or a prototype.

Anyone have any from this set?

Fred

I'd appreciate someone turning the second photo right side up. Don't know why this happens to some of my photos and not others

The centering on this one is only a hair off (back is nearly perfect) and doesn't bother me one bit. Plus, it was priced at about an eighth or a ninth of what straight 9's sell for, so I snapped it up quickly...

Great looking Rose!
Now that's my kind of OC card.
Great eye appeal.
Congrats.

Thanks, RayB! It was one of those times that I said to myself, "How has nobody grabbed this yet???!!!" And BOOM!! Didn't let another second pass before I bought it.

Thanks Ed. :)

I have 59 cards remaining. 25 low numbers and 34 high numbers yet to go.

Not sure if I'll ever finish the high numbers but I want to finish the low's (1-310) for sure but with me needing some rather expensive ones in that series, it will also be a challenge.

Hang in there and have fun. Your cards look great. I enjoy watching your progress.

As always Irv, sweet looking 52s.....glad to hear that you are nearly to the 350 mark....having 63 of the 97 highs is significant and gets you more than 2/3rds of the way on the toughest series (cost wise) in any Topps set. While this last series may be a challenge , with time, it is achievable.

jason.1969 10-13-2018 08:31 PM

Upgraded to replace my other one that is quite a bit miscut, as many seem to be from this set.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ad9b790444.jpg

Jason,

Is that a 70 or 71? I've found the 71's to be a little tougher than the 70's. Just curious anyway.

jason.1969 10-14-2018 12:21 PM

1970. Agreed.

Nice, I really liked putting that set together. It was fun finding new additions at local shows around here. I'm not done with the 71 set yet though. Nice pickup man.

Thanks guys! :)

I will keep picking away, no doubt, as it always puts a smile on my face when I can land another one.

My 1957 Kaline was very badly miscut, so I finally pulled the trigger on an upgrade. If it presents as well in hand as on eBay I will feel great about the purchase.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...89874d5f3e.jpg

It's no huge pickup or anything, but I took a gamble on this high number 1972 Cey RC (because the scan in the listing - wrongly - seemed to show a PSA 8 with rounded corners) and really got it for a steal...

An unplanned, but welcome pickup for my '70 Topps endeavor. I've always loved this photo. Was a great deal for the price once I saw it in hand, would probably grade out between 5 and 6.

jason.1969 10-26-2018 07:33 AM

With this one I am now down to just that darn card 68 for my set. This has been a really fun set to collect.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7a274f059e.jpg
