What if a Signed T206 Wagner Surfaced?
 

If a signed T206 Wagner surfaced for auction, how high do you think it would go? Let's say this scenario in PSA 6 condition.

I think the hobby would implode into a black hole.

But seriously, I can see it going for $10 million the way card prices are going. If the holy grail of baseball cards is signed I can't imagine the bidding frenzy.

However, I think there's a 0.001% chance of one ever surfacing.

A PSA 6 Wagner now would probably bring at least $5 million even without the autograph. If it's a nice autograph (let's say 7/10), I'd guess a cool $10 million.

Wasn't the owner of the infamous trimmed PSA 8 Wagner offered $10M, which he declined?

I'd think a signed Wagner would top that in a non trimmed PSA 6.

Ironically, this is one autograph I would never question the authenticity of - I mean, who would risk defacing a wagner?!?

I've always wondered what the Wagner letter/cheque to John Gruber would fetch, assuming it came with provenance. My guess would be more than any given t206 Wagner?

I actually own a signed T206 Wagner, except that:
1- It's a reprint;
2- It's not signed by Wagner. I had Wayne Gretzky sign it for me about 15 years ago.

I would feel bad if one of them surfaced, I would hate for our good friend T206collector to have a heart attack.

I think a signed T206 Wagner might sell for less than the same card unsigned.

I would love to see the Provenance of the signed Wagner card. Plus, what other cards were found with it, if any.

1960 Fleer "Baseball Greats" signed by Babe Ruth

1961 Topps #405 "Gehrig benched after 2,130 games signed by Lou Gehrig

1976 Topps "All Time All Stars signed by Honus Wagner

T205 Addie Joss signed by Addie

I find it interesting that everyone has just assumed that the OP is referring to Honus Wagner in his post. He just asks about a T206 Wagner; he may have been referring to Heinie Wagner ;)

I thought this first as well. But then I figured that the type of person shelling out untold millions for a Wagner would likely have the ego to want to be the only one to have an example like this as opposed to being one of fifty or so people who have a normal one.

I would indeed have a heart attack, but since I can't even seem to land a signed T206 Cobb (even though there are plenty out there), I won't hold my breath over a signed T206 Wagner!

Having said that, I do think my signed M116 Wagner is a decent "filler" until I stumble across an actual signed T206 Wagner.

Have to disagree as long as the auto was legit without questions.

A singular example of a signed version of the most important card in the hobby? With all the competition of graded cards and registry listings, this 1/1 would be the non pareil of baseball cards.

If PSA authenticates the auto, I'm in.:D

Of course, a signed card would end any truth to the story of his wanting nothing to do with the card due to tobacco concerns.
