Great Lundgren, Jeff. That Walsh has steller eye appeal, too.

Awesome Leon! I had a close eye on that one. Very cool.

darwinbulldog 02-02-2018 07:16 AM

Was wondering if someone would post about that Fatima premium. Hell of a pick-up there.

Love that Fatima premium Leon - you seldom see them that nice.

I picked this one up from a board member - my second one of these in less than a month!

So far this, but the month is young.

wdwfan 02-02-2018 09:11 PM

Posted this in the thread in the watercooler talk section too.

A good number of decent pick ups here. The 4 Horseman was listed in Ex condition, but it is creased. So I might end up sending it back as I don't deal with any kind of creases. I usually toss anything that's creased in the trash, but this has a BV of $500. So don't really wanna just toss it. So will most likely end up sending it back. Anyway, here's the goods from today's mail day, which also included about 16 different 1959 Topps all-star cards.

Just got this cool 1933 snapshot of Babe Ruth. This 2.75" x 4.5" snapshot was taken in Honolulu, Hawaii during a barnstorming tour in the Pacific with a group of major leaguers in the winter of 1933. One of the nicest Ruth snapshots I've ever seen! Big thanks to Jeff P. for the location and date of this fine photo!
Jeff

h2oya311 02-03-2018 06:44 AM

Very nice, Jeff! It’s nice to see you expand your horizons beyond “just” postcards. You’ve got a great eye!

3-2-count 02-03-2018 06:49 AM

Great snapshot Jeff. Here's a new rppc as well.

Just think, one of these kids may be holding the CJ Jax and have no idea what they've got. ;)

jb217676 02-03-2018 06:52 AM

Thanks guys! I think the vintage snapshot area of collecting is undervalued and under appreciated at this time. You put a stamp box on the back of some of these and they would go for big dollars! Yummmmm... Cracker Jacks!
Jeff

A slightly protrusive mandible. I would concur fellow dentite. :D

joshuanip 02-07-2018 09:44 PM

Thanks guys. My favorite pickup so far on this board is that Ted Williams 39 Goudey. Awesome and hard card to find. Sigh, If I can only win the lottery. ( I would blow it faster than Brewster)

Not new pick ups, but Just got these fresh back from SGC today! Pretty excited, grades are spot on what I thought they should be and all b/w cards look great with the black inserts imo!

The Ruth/Matthias/Merkle RPPC dates to 1925-26(years Merkle was Yankee) and is one of the new favorites of my collection. Likely 1925 when he appeared in 7 Yankees games vs. only 1 game in 1926.

Also very excited to add a new Headin Home Ruth to the collection, despite how hammered this one is! "Bijou theatre Dec 8" is written in pen on the back. (Under the pencil scribbles)

Thanks! I love it (you have some amazing ones too!) I've never seen any other sort of card type item with Brother Matthias. Also has wife Helen in it too with some other unknowns and Xavarians.

I love the Otey, and the Downs you picked up last month, congrats!!!!

wdwfan 02-12-2018 01:44 PM

Today was more about quantity than quality as I continue to try and build my vintage collection. As most know, I just started collecting vintage late in the fall of 2017 and have since sold off all of my modern stuff with the exception of my PCs, which will be going out the door (hopefully) soon.

As for today's mail day, I got the 71s in a deal with northview, some of the 62s in a trade over on SCF and some other 62s as well as the Kaline in a trade on here with shortmail.

I'm now up over 450 different 1971s, over 200 different 62s (with 60+ more on the way now) and about 50 cards shy of finishing my '74 set.

Thanks to everyone for the set/vintage collection help.

He actually wasnt a bad pitcher; had a career 2:1 win loss ratio. Too bad his pitching career was short.... imagine what he could have done...
