Posted By: E. Angyal
that Wagner is not a VG 3 card. Take a look on e-bay right now (6/20) at the Demmitt St. Louis card that got a VG 3 grade from SGC. Something is not right here.........

Eric

Posted By: leon
The Wagner certainly meets the stated requirements for an SGC40, (imo)...the corners are the only soft thing and it is better than a 30.......and from their site...

40 VG 3: 90/10 or better centering, corners more rounded--but not excessive, stronger creasing may exist. Posted By: T206Collector
...but no creases is cause for a 3. Sharp corner but a minor wrinkle is also cause for a 3. There is no inconsistency there. I've got about a billion examples of this phenomenon in my collection. PSA and GAI do it that way, too.

Unless Nagy had more than one VG'ish Wagner, I think this is the case.
Posted By: Anonymous
The Wagner was in a GAI 3.5 holder. No one cares about the number. The card is a solid VG.
The Anson was a PSA 5. It is a nice EX.
They both look better in the SGC holders.

Posted By: Glyn Parson
When i worked for Levi Bleam in the 90s early 2000s I remember a discussion at dinner with Dave Forman, Steve Rocchi, Levi, Jimmy and a host of others who all agreed that a Wagner will always be pushed to the maximum grade it could possibly be when encapsulated.

Posted By: JimB
I saw that Wagner in person at the National last year. I think it is accurately graded by SGC. It is a solid vg card in my opinion. I did think it was slightly overgraded as 3.5 by GAI, but that, again, is just my opinion.
JimB

Posted By: Trevor Hocking
I have held this card as well and it is in the right holder. It is a very solid VG card. The card has has a great surface. It is a very nice Wagner and cutos to the collector for putting it in the right grade for this card. The Anson would break any current 19th century single card sale record easy. Very very nice card indeed. I would guess $200k-$250k

Trevor

Posted By: Harry Wallace (HW)
Wow! I both of those cards are beauties. I really like the Anson.

The Wagner looks like a solid VG cards to me as long as it does not have any back damage. I think that it is properly graded.

Posted By: leon
I'd give 3 restaurants and about 100k for it (if I had 100k).....sounds like your deal is doing only a little better than mine...we'll have to have a beer at the National (if you go) and drown our sorrows in it....
