Some interesting results. I didn't win anything.
T206 Old Mill Crawford SGC 5 $2,075. Did this seem reasonable? T206 Young Portrait PSA 6: Piedmont 350 $11,816.00. Last 6 that PSA says was sold was in March 2017 for about half of what this one brought. Until this sale the 150s and 350s were pretty much in line. Should we now assume a 150 would sell in the $10K range if it comes up? I watched prices on boxing cards. A few caught my eye: --#1 PSA registry T218 set $26,870.00. This one blows my mind. I guess the registry works... --R427 1950s Joe Palooka set of 12 $1,886.00. Tough set, so it is gratifying to see bidders pay a premium for it in complete form. --1927 Fro Joy Tunney set of 6 $660.00. $110 a card is solid. --The sleeper of the group IMO was an uncut strip of 3 N150 Honest Long Cut cards with two John L. Sullivan cards. Went for only $770. It is one of the few 19th century uncut boxing card pieces in existence. What about that 1966 Bobby Orr USA Test RC in PSA 9? Over $200,000. I guess I can forget about that card! Or the PSA 2 1952 Topps Mantle that went for over $22K. I haven't been paying attention...has that been the going rate? I also noticed that lower grade Mantle and Mays cards had prices I thought were high: 1951 Bowman Mantle PSA 2.5 $4,141.00 1951 Bowman Mays PSA 2 $1,417.00 1952 Topps Mays PSA 2 and 1953 Mays PSA 4 $2,659.00 1953 Topps Mantle PSA 4 $2,671.00 |
Of those I only watch the '52 Mantles and in lower grade the prices are almost solely dictated by appearance. That was a very nice one last night. I would think an ugly one would be 4-5k less.

Adam, I could be wrong, but I doubt there's a price difference between a Cy Young 150 vs. 350.
|
150's of every player common or HOFer should bring more money, they are much sharper and fresher images with stronger colors.
|
I've always noticed the difference in the 150's (bolder, better colors, etc). Just never thought there'd be much of a price difference. Suppose you're right.
I thought the 1923 Opening Day Yankee Stadium program went for a pretty robust price in Lelands. https://auction.lelands.com/bids/bidplace?itemid=89385 |
I looked long and hard at the Jackie Robinson Jersey City ticket stub. Cool piece but I backed off. The PSA registry shows 2 intact tickets graded, and this was only a stub. And I thought all the publicity Lelands got for it would push it up unnecessarily. A very very cool piece of history. And whoever bought it at another auction a few scant months ago and promptly got it encapsulated made some easy money there.

T206
The Old Mill Crawford is very low pop. That pose centered is also uncommon.

Jeff, I saw that when the auction opened, and said to myself..."Self, Jeff needs to own this."
Awesome. |
Very nice Jeff. Congrats

Thank you Adam

One of the reasons the boxing collection did so well was that we brought in Adam Warshaw as a consultant. He did an amazing job. He is knowledgeable and professional and he wrote the intro to the section.
Thank you Adam you were a pleasure to work with. The next half of the collection comes in our Spring Classic which we are assembling now. I hope you can join us again. All-Time Greatest 1910 T218 Champions Complete Graded Set - #1 on PSA Registry (8.02 GPA) $26,871 |
Way cool Jeff.
Is it identical to the Lincoln Publishing image? It's clearly from the same photo session. |
Yep, same image as LP postcards, REA sold a Mack years ago so guessing other players may be out there somewhere.

At one point several years ago I was trying to collect them but never really got more than about half way there before parting with them to pursue other interests. Really under-appreciated set. |
Lots of awesome items in the auction...anyone win the Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig signed guitar?
