Anybody else have one of these team visors uncut from the back of the box, or even the entire box? Any other memorabilia that never got cut out of the box?

bnorth 06-27-2020 12:21 PM

Removed because OP is a fun hater and asked me to.:D

Not funny, and certainly not what I had in mind. Please remove.

Very nice! Is there a checklist of the individual serving boxes?

I asked you to take it down because it's offensive. Ask a transgender person how much fun they would have from seeing your post, and I think you might get it.

PEP cereal

Kellogg's PEP Cereal Babe Ruth Toy Ring - c1949-51

The plastic Babe Ruth toy ring was one of a 16 Ring set, featuring sports, aviation and Wild West themes.

The one size fits all, premium Ring was inserted into boxes of Kellogg's PEP Cereal, and came in 6 different colors; Red, Blue, Green, Pink, Gold, Silver.

Finding the cereal box intact for a fair price was a challenge - many are asking way too much IMO.

On the rings - it would be my anecdotal opinion that the "pink" was the toughest since I'm sure most boys tossed it when finding it in the box?

Besides the 6 basic ring colors, there's variations in color to the Ruth inset and also some variation to the plastic - besides the deep red e.g., there's also one that looks more like a red cough drop.

Cereal box:

Some of the rings are the same due to the fact that sometimes the ring will look different in the pic on eBay.

I'm sure it takes a bit of insanity to chase variations to these rings?

The ring measures about 9/16" in diameter, with 1/8" - wide shanks and a 5/8" square display table, with a 1/2" diameter cello inlay picturing Babe Ruth.

In your search for the box, did you ever see one of my visor complete boxes?

Fred, those Alpha-Bits boxes still have my head spinning.

I'm going to stretch it a bit here with a Kellogg's Danish box with some great card graphics.

Greg

orioles70 07-01-2020 09:17 AM

I ate quite a few Danish go Rounds as a kid to get those cards. I also preferred them over Pop Tarts. I would like to add one of those Danish go Rounds boxes to my collection if anybody has one to sell or trade.

Thanks, that's what I figured but worth asking. I'm thrilled to have the complete back, God bless the kid who cut that out instead of the visor. Heck, I've only seen a couple of the visors over the years. I guess a few of the ring boxes are around since you waited for a good one, but the box and rings together are phenomenal!

I don't remember ever getting the cards in the Danish go Round boxes, but they do look pretty appetizing. I picked up the example in my previous post on Ebay a while back -- I ate a ton of Rold Gold pretzels to get mine. And boy did we go through a lot of Corn Flakes in my house.

That definitely looks like a Brooks Robinson drawing on that cereal box; what do you think?
