What happened to the 52 Mantle they photoshopped/ auctioned last month?

greco827 10-29-2017 08:26 AM

A guy with 70 negatives in the past 6 months should tip buyers off. Regardless of how many positives you get, ebay should flag these sellers and stamp some sort of buyer beware icon on the listing ... or ban them for a period of time.

Is there any way to filter sellers (permanently) from searches? There should be.

WOW! The light colored worn area, in the field opposite Mick's left ear, has disappeared since Memory Lane sold the card. A miracle?

toledo_mudhen 10-29-2017 09:10 AM

She never fixed the print defect above NY in Mick's cap

I assume you mean the one that sold for around $30K+? I posted it the Battlefield thread that she never shipped it and provided no correspondence.
I just noticed she add this to the feedback. I was hoping it would have ended worse for her, but that was wishful thinking.

Negative feedback rating BEWARE, high $ Mantle card was never shipped. No comm for 8 days, opened case. Buyer: c***c ( 1225Red star icon for feedback score in between 1,000 to 4,999) During past 6 months Feedback conversation

I am very sorry. Our consignor backed out and buyer was given a FULL refund.

This seller is hands down, the worst seller on Ebay.

So the card went for $38,600
I'm sure the "consignor" has already backed out
What a joke

Shill bidding occurred in that auction. What happened to the zero feedback bidder that had so many bids plastered in the auction??

There was a bid retraction of $38,700 near the end of the auction. I am assuming that was the shill bidder. I think when you retract one bid they all get retracted and don't appear anymore.

There is no reason to retract a bid with so little time left. Buyer's can't retract their bid. Why should the sellers be allowed to? The zero was retracted with less than an hour to go. That auction was bogus from the get go. That seller should be banned from Ebay.

Something I’ve learned over the last year and a half is a large number of people don’t care about the truth.
This is just another example of that. As long as they believe it is what it says it is, well that’s good enough for them.

This was not a "retraction", it was a "cancellation", meaning the bidder did not do this through their account. I am assuming the seller canceled this 0 fdbk bidder's bids, but ebay could have done so also for some administrative reason.

So true. Sad.

The underbidders top bid was exposed though, and wouldn't you know it, someone came along and TIED his top bid. The whole auctions reeks.....just like Battlefield does.

Not all searches, but for saved searches on ebay, click Advanced next to search, the scroll down to Sellers section.

Select "Only show items from:"
Change Include to Exclude
Enter Seller Id's (separate multiple sellers with a comma)

http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=23384

Click Search at the bottom, then Save search (once search is done).

Saving the search, as chisoxfan mentions, has made my exclusions permanent in my searches

Whomever said "worst seller on ebay" might be right. But the Acofind person is right next to them. Both have years and years of committing fraud on ebay.

egbeachley 11-01-2017 09:39 AM

They wouldn't have kept the card for 9 years and just now decided to sell it. Are they receiving consignments now? Makes sense since they get the best prices on ebay. Eventually.

For reference, what are the PSA 5 Topps Mantles going for?

Depends on "eye appeal". Or maybe "photoshop appeal".

VCP is right around $40,000....however, that one looks worse than normal....It was photoshopped to look better than normal.

egbeachley 11-01-2017 02:57 PM

Thanks.

I understand the Battlefield photoshop results better than just about anybody. A couple years ago I left over 20 negatives for her on ebay.

Looking at the Mile High scans, it appears to be fairly graded.

VintageBen 11-01-2017 07:38 PM

The original card doesn't even look that bad. I just think that greed gets in the way of Battlefield. Collectors would still pay big money for the card and would be happy about it if they knew what they were buying.

Card collecting is supposed to be fun.

Will Battlefield be at The National so that the whole card-collecting world can tell her how we really feel?

Peter_Spaeth 11-02-2017 04:49 PM

Same card or another one?

20 bids, 57 retractions. Even PWCC might flag that one lol.

So the sale fell through within two days. Got it.

I like to imagine the buyer got the invoice and was about to pay and THEN saw who the seller was...

With less than a day to go, the '52 Topps Mick a la Battlefields sits at around $21,000, which if its a legit auction, the photo shopping is not too egregious and whatever else, seems like a real bargain unless there are an explosion of bids in the next 24 hours.

Look for some shill bid accounts to kick in......

Batpig 11-06-2017 02:28 PM

With these high dollar auctions that are never shipped, I'm wondering if battlefield is using eBay/PayPal for the equivalent of a check kiting scheme. Sell high value cards you don't have and you now have several days at least before needing to give a refund.

MikeGarcia 11-06-2017 04:15 PM

Profit on the float ??

..with interest rates being what they are , ( zero point nothing ) that might be a stretch ??
