A great hobby friend has passed away.

Long-time hobby veteran....John Dorsey....has passed away.

You old-timers may remember John from when he wrote interesting articles in the SCD magzine....dating back to the late 1970's and early 1980's
regarding BOWMAN variation cards and T205 master sets.

I first met John in the Fort Lauderdale area in 1981 when I attended the BB card Show that he (and others) promoted at the Sunrise-Harley hotel.

John and I shared many theories regarding T205, T206, and BOWMAN cards, and traded each other many cards from these sets approx. 44 years.

GOD Bless his soul....and comfort his wife Mary and their family.

Sad news. John used to visit our card shop all the time in the 1990s. He was always such a nice man.
Here's his obituary. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries...?pid=204327313

I had the pleasure of talking with him and doing business with him. I always enjoyed speaking with him. Also got the chance to meet him at a Nationals in Cleveland. He had a great voice, it was one I think you could have made a living with.

Rest Peacefully John, you were revered and will always be remembered by me.

Ted,

My deepest condolences for your loss. Thoughts and prayers to his wife and his family. It is difficult to lose a friend, especially one that you had for so long. The longer we're in this hobby the more that we come to value the personal connections and friendships that we make, rather than the cards themselves. Take care, my friend.

A great hobby friend has passed away.

I would like to thank everyone of you for your condolences regarding John Dorsey.

He was a man with an amazing intellectual curiosity, who inspired me to explore certain "mysteries" regarding BB cards in various sets (1888 - 1952). Together
with John, and our Smoky Mountain buddy, Ralph Triplette, the 3 of us solved several existing uncertainties in the hobby regarding BOWMAN and GOUDEY sets
in the early 1980's.

Here are some examples of our published articles in Bob Lemke's BASEBALLL CARDS Magazine and SCD publication.

I did not know him. But Ted, I believe to mentioned him to me last year.

Well wishes for his family, and his friends. Take care, Ted!
