Slater's Auction

Posted By: JC
Look's like Slaters has alot of nice lots. Are they new to auctions? Do many people support them? I delt with them in the last auction and did not win anything.
Here is a link to the sports side of it.
http://www.slatersamericana.com/index.cfm?Action=DisplayContent&ContentName=Lot%20 Gallery%20Sports

Slater's Auction

Posted By: TBob
My after-sale experience with them was less than satisfying, to say the least and this opinion was shared by several others on this board. Maybe last auction was an aberration, I certainly hope so as I was less than eager to involve myself with their auction this time around.

Slater's Auction

Posted By: Tom Boblitt
is a decent auction. They used to be the 'Political Gallery' years ago. Tom Slater was involved in that entity and that disbanded after a few years. They took a 2-3 year hiatus and then came back as Slater's Americana. They seem to be pretty entrenched with Mastronet as they appear to have shared their online technology with them because their (SA) is identical to Mastronet's. Anyway, I used to win tons of stuff from them at decent prices in mid-90's (but won tons of stuff from others back then at decent prices.....no more). Their fulfillment of orders has always seemed to be strained and I didn't win anything in the last (first) big color catalog auction. A lot of people had complaints from that one about wrong items sent, delays, etc. There are a couple lots in this one that I'm bidding on and hope to win......

Posted By: Hankron
I didn't win anything in their last auction, so I don't have any firsthand experience. However, in their latest catalog contained a full paid apology for the miscues in the last auction. According to the page, they had never handled an auction that large before and were caught without enough employees to handles the amount of lots during shipping. They said that have since hired more people in order to correct this situtation for the current auction.

Posted By: JC
I respect the fact that they addressed their problems from the first auction. I'm going for 2 lots. One is already over what I had in mind and the other is way under where it should be... Hope I didn't give it away..

Posted By: Hankron
While there sports stuff is the same old same old (MastroNet Junior), they have had a variety of out of the ordinary non-sports items-- which I find refreshing.
