New member here who just bought a collection and started a new shop in Richmond, VA.

We came across two cards I couldn't find much info on and I think they're reproductions, but I wanted to be sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

they're fantasy pieces

DonG 02-07-2023 09:51 AM

What does that mean? Do they have any value? have any links to info on them?

They don't have any value. They are made to look like they are real. Maybe a couple bucks each.

I agree.

On the other hand, I think reproductions have a place in our hobby. Because without reproductions, mankind would become extinct within 100 years or so.

They are fantasy pieces rather than reproductions. There were no original copies of these made during the playing days of the subjects. It would be like a ‘54 Topps Mickey Mantle or a T206 Joe Jackson. “Cards that never were,” if you follow.

Got ya. Thank everyone!

This sounds like a Jack Handey quote. :D

I have a handy little Handey quote book, just for these occasions.

Rather than start a new thread I'm just going to ask if these are fantasy pieces on this thread. I believe they are but just double checking. There are 2 Mantles and a Maris. They measure 1 3/4 across and 3/4 inch top to bottom.

Thanks in advance!

I've never seen those particular pieces; however, they remind me of those POGS "slammers" that were all over the place back in the '90s.

So Don, tell us a bit about your shop.

What is the name and where is it in Richmond? And what kind of things will you carry?

I'm down near Yorktown, but head through Richmond once or twice per month.

Just a cursory glace says to me they are fantasy craft pieces likely made by a loving mom or wife. Fairly easy to create with epoxy mix in the same way as a paperweight project and with easily available craft molds. I think the particular glitter with almost a holographic tint looks like a very modern material.

Just my initial thoughts on it.

There has been stuff hitting the shows too that look old and just are not authentic - Happy Collecting! - but please be careful
Had a chance at a Nolan Ryan card, so beat and off – just could not make the best offer without it graded. Exhibits too! had two fakes within one nice large lot that I just purchased.

Hey Jb, we have a variety of baseball, football, and basketball. A nice mix of 80's through current day. We have some older baseball as far back as 1921 that I'll probably try to sell on here. We have a lot of Topps baseball sets for sale on ebay going back as far as 1968.

We're working on getting more wax as we establish relationships with distributors.

We're located down at 214 E. Grace Street.
