Glory of Their Times Receives Honor

I know this is a little off topic, but I just thought it was deserving and interesting for those who have listened to the audio version of Glory of their Times.

It was officially placed in the Library of Congress National Recording Registry and will now be preserved as an instrumental recording in the history of our nation.

It is impressive that Marquard took the time to write such a lengthy note. Did you buy the book?

Jay Wolt 04-03-2014 09:54 AM

Love Glory of their times.
Here's some royalty checks (which I've already posted here several times)

I have purchased the book, yes. I even have a nice copy signed by Ritter.

I'm reading it right now for the first time. I'm about 3/4 of the way through it.

Here is a really neat collection of stuff relating to the film. I figure some of our members might be interested.

I first saw "Glory" I think about 1991. It was the summer I discovered T206 cards, and was instantly hooked. I was mesmerized by the documentary and it was the best history lesson a T206 collector could ever have. The narrator & music added to the nostalgia.

I am traveling now, this weekend will post a great signed Snodgrass letter that I got from Jay Wolt.

Where might I be able to find The Glory of Their Times documentary?

The closest I came on YouTube was this really amazing Donald Sutherland hosted TV show from 1981 about baseball...

You can get it on VHS from Amazon, and it pops up on eBay occasionally. Someone really needs to update it to DVD and/or online. Bud Greenspan produced it in 1970 for PBS, and there are bits of the actual voices along with narration by "the voice of God," Alexander Scourby, over great old film and photos. It's a classic piece of work, in keeping with the high standards of the book and audio editions.
