New Cy Young Pre-Rookie card?

Now this has to be his first card? Since he was born in 1867 I guess it's possible.... Is it Cy?

bnorth 06-25-2017 08:02 AM

If he was born a little girl it might be him.

Kruk Cards is dead to me.

Snapolit1 06-25-2017 08:02 AM

Believe this is also the diaper empty version.

irv 06-25-2017 08:03 AM

I see no resemblance at all. :D

It amuses and annoys me that a letter with no actual info has the gall to call itself provenance.

That was my thought as well.

"Here's our letter of provenance. As you can tell, it includes no information about provenance."

Is this the Jungian or Freudian version?

I know, you're thinking Fraudian.

Kruk Cards

Based on my experience, if the realized price on that baby picture isn't high enough, the item will magically be "out of stock."

David W 06-26-2017 09:05 AM

I can't even ID my own children from their baby pictures.

ramram 06-26-2017 10:05 AM

I thought for sure that was him until I saw that he has rabbit paws instead of hands.

ejharrington 06-26-2017 11:37 AM

Perhaps a forensic scientist can use one of their models to project the baby's face out 40-50 years. The funny thing is, I do see a resemblance!

I believe a member of this board owns a tintype of Cy Young, with tintypes of HOFers or MLB players being rare. In his case, it of Cy as an adult and it originates from Young's family and Lelands.

There was also a board member who had an 1800s CDV child photo of a T206 player. He was concerned about the authenticity/identity, but it came from the family's estate, the photography studio on the CDV was the player's small hometown and the player and young child (I forget who) had almost albino-like hair/complection (maybe he was an albino?). I said it was safe to say it was the same person.

P.s. the answer to the poll should be simple. A tintype isn't a baseball card.

That may be a prepubescent image, but I know a collector that had an even earlier "image" of Young.... But sadly wiped it away thinking it was mayonnaise.

drcy 06-26-2017 12:05 PM

I found the image of Jesus in my toast, but I was really hungry.

Could you post the list of those people? I have a couple of Joe Jackson photos I've been looking to unload :)

I'll admit Brent, this made me laugh...

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago, Brad Wells, one of the principals in Florida-based Authentic Sports, Inc., and Historic Auctions, was sentenced to six months in prison beginning January 6, 2014...

...Wells admitted to investigators in 2009 that he had obtained retail or game-issued jerseys and schemed with other dealers to alter them so they would appear game worn. The jerseys were sold to other dealers and to trading card companies which cut them up and used them to create memorabilia or ‘relic’ cards. Prosecutors say Wells and the others sometimes changed the shape of the jerseys and added patches or other identifiable marks to make them look game worn, thus increasing their value.
