Question On Chick Gandil Backs
I'm thinking about doing a T 206 back run on Gandil as I have a few already. I've seen the Hindu and Hindu Red but was curious for those that keep up with confirmed lists does that card come with some of the tougher backs like Carolina Brights, Broadleaf and Lenox? If anyone knows that could let me know. Thanks!!

Just type Gandil in the last name blank and hit search and you will have your answer!

Glad to help, it is a great site. You can also leave the fields blank and select a back type to see all confirmed cards (as well as many other search variations). Thanks to the guys at The Resource for all of their work.

Red HINDU is not the toughest for Gandil. In fact there was a red HINDU Gandil on ebay for weeks that was removed from the listing last night.
Actually, a tougher back than red HINDU on Gandil is the OLD MILL. And, though Gandil with a UZIT back is theoretically possible, it has not been confirmed yet. This front/back combo would be the toughest. TED Z . |

Hey Ted,
This front-back combo is also pretty tough. Oh wait, this isn't a T206! :D Val |

Gandil is a 460 only subject so he wasn't printed in Brown Hindu, you must have him confused with someone else or the one you saw was a fake. |

SGC's pop report regarding Gandil indicates 4 red HINDU's and only one OLD MILL. I don't have PSA's data for this situation. The recent ebay listing of the PSA2 red HINDU Gandil was $1750. I acquired this red HINDU Gandil a year ago in a cash/trade deal that totaled $2200. One OLD MILL Gandil went for approx. $4K in an auction this past year. http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...rGandil25x.jpg . . http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...Gandil25xb.jpg TED Z __________________________________________________ _______________________________________ I'm still searching for these 4 cards to complete my AMERICAN BEAUTY 460 sub-set (74 subjects) CAMNITZ (hands over head)....DOYLE (portrait)....McGRAW (portrait-cap)....TINKER (bat off shoulder) . |
Ryan, Here are the PSA pop reports for Gandil from when they started keeping
records of the backs. American Beauty 460 - 15 Cycle 460 - 4 EPDG - 6 Red Hindu - 4 Old Mill - 1 Piedmont - 103 Sovereign 460 - 21 Sweet Caporal - 109 Tolstoi - 14 |
Like Ted said, any of the 12 are very very tough to find in OM. In a recent REA auction a handful of them surfaced, I believe some 1/1s or 1/2s.

Here's a link to a thread I posted last year regarding the scarcity of the OLD MILL backs on the 12 cards in the 460-only series that I refer to as the "Exclusive 12".
This group of 12 subjects includes Gandil. I think you should find it interesting...... http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...ld+mill&page=1 Exclusive 12 http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...C460x42x9x.jpghttp://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...C460x42x9x.jpg TED Z . |
As a "back" collector it doesn't get more sweet!!
