PSA/DNA Goofed.. Scan Added - 1939 Play Ball Frank Hayes
Posted By: Anonymous
i was lucky enough to win any auction for a 1939 Play Ball #108 Frank Hayes. This card is autographed. it was listed wrong, and the seller stated that the former owner must have wrote his name on teh card.

I sent it to PSA/DNA, and it is indeed authentic.

Frank Hayes was a multiple All Star, and he died in 1955 at the age of 40. what do you think the value of this card would be?

oh yeah, i got it for $0.99

Posted By: Jodi Birkholm
Despite his early death, Hayes' signature is a fairly easy pickup. A signed Play Ball, however, is a different story. My guess is that it would retail for $250, but sell on eBay for about $150-$175. It should be worth more, but the fact that his signature, as found on low-end items such as cuts and album pages, hinders its value a bit.

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley
Are you sure it is signed (PSA/DNA aside) as the "Frank" on those two cards is identical. Looks like PSA got one really wrong.
-Rhett

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley
Unless Frank Hayes also wrote "Frank Demaree" on Demaree's card above it wasn't written by Hayes. The way to tell is simply the "Frank" on each card is identical in the way they were written. I think the seller was right when he said the name was simply written on the front.

Did you really send this to PSA/DNA and they thought it was legit? My assumption with my earlier sttement was that you did. If in fact you did, they got this one wrong.

-Rhett

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
Maybe Frank Hayes signed his own card there, then helped out Frank Demaree by signing a card for a fan for him while he was busy... Or maybe Rhett is correct!! "Frank" does look identical.

Posted By: Anonymous
sorry but they are fake. The seller had about 20 over a 2 month period. Shows that PSA knows as much about authenticating autographs as paris hilton knows about politics
I was hoping you would post a good one and not have to break the bad news to you.

sorry brian
