I haven't seen Frank Ward in a while ...

chaddurbin 09-29-2012 01:27 PM

wesley l.iu. his dry sarcasm and wit was great.

barrysloate 09-29-2012 01:31 PM

Rich- I believe Bruce was just reinstated. Hopefully he will start posting again.

CW 09-29-2012 01:40 PM

Just curious, but do you miss Bruce Dorskind, or do you miss the drama, tension, and debate that was created with almost every one of his condescending threads?

Almost every thread had a personal agenda, or it focused on a financial aspect of the hobby. Rarely, if ever, was any knowledge shared or scans shown, and each thread, while mildly entertaining, ended up in a trainwreck.

Nah, I don't miss that.

There are many I would like to miss but I am sure they feel the same way about me.

Anyway, Bruce was great entertainment.

If Bruce (hi Bruce) behaves he can contribute a lot of hobby experience and knowledge to the board. If not then .....we have some short lived entertainment.

I used to lurk on the old net54 a whiiiilllleee ago - I believe there was a guy named Hal Lew1s? He was great; very smart guy.. He literally won everything... If my memory is correct he had a Wagner at one point as well..

Hal was great and he had a world class collection. I was very disappointed when his website went down and I couldn't peruse his stuff anymore. He had great knowledge too.

As I recall, didn't Hal have to sell his cards after his soon to be ex-wife choked him out financially in divorce court?

Peter Chao

Brian Van Horn 09-29-2012 04:09 PM

I can't figure out if this is a reunion thread or a budding Dean Martin roast.

Classic Marshall. "Is that your head or did your neck throw up?" Also, I bet Barry "Goat" misses Marshall.

I like both of them (personally).

kmac32 09-29-2012 05:30 PM

Peter Chow. LOL

Al C.risafulli 09-29-2012 05:55 PM

Barkman was awful. Bruce is knowledgeable.

But nobody - and I mean NOBODY - beats Peter Chao.

Marshall and I didn't get along all that well, but looking back, some of his posts were pretty funny. They had absolutely nothing to do with baseball cards, but they were funny.

Yeah this was hysterical.

"Once again doll smart remark about being introduced throwing up at a party. When was the last time you were spanked? Perhaps a few taps will change your perspective and you may lighten up a little on your obvious frustrations."

bcornell 09-29-2012 06:19 PM

"Did Shoeless Joe ever play in the majors without shoes. If he did, how did he avoid getting spiked." (link)

Chao is the Babe Ruth of posters. I still can't tell if he was serious or if he was trolling, but that was magnificent.

WE miss Bruce’s posts as well. They tended to make us laugh and feel a bit uncomfortable at the same time. They had a real Curb Your Enthusiasm feel to them.

In full accord................................

barrysloate 09-29-2012 06:44 PM

I forgot about that Peter, that wasn't funny at all. But I remember he used to regale us with tales of his prodigious sex life (real or imagined). I guess he felt a baseball card chatboard was the ideal place to brag about it.

Peter_Spaeth 09-29-2012 06:47 PM

Barry, he was a vulgar asshole, plain and simple.

barrysloate 09-29-2012 06:53 PM

Well he was a jerk, I can't argue that. But in between the vulgarity he did occasionally come up with a few funny lines. I hated the way he insulted Joann, and she pretty much left the board after that.

Yeah, I miss Joann too. She was a firecracker and really knew her stuff. She was great on the old board.

.

19cbb 09-29-2012 07:39 PM

Julie Vognar's cryptic posts

Jacklitsch 09-29-2012 08:00 PM

There are several I miss but J.C Clark and Paul Holstein come to mind mostly.

P.S. I liked Peter Chao. You guys are being too tough on him.

Bicem 09-29-2012 08:09 PM

I heard Joann now dominates the fantasy baseball world.

ethicsprof 09-29-2012 08:13 PM

I Miss

King Yao from the old days. His cards were great and his contributions were
often quite scholarly.
all the best,
barry

Edwolf1963 09-29-2012 08:24 PM

What happened...

..to Marshall? Banned or just moved on?

cmcclelland 09-29-2012 08:40 PM

What about Mr. PSA Set Registry himself Jim Crandall?

Jlighter 10-02-2012 05:46 PM

Who was this yankeesfan51, saw some posts on the archive, seemed like a wholesome fellow.

cmcclelland 10-02-2012 09:21 PM

Murcerfan.

ramram 10-02-2012 09:24 PM

Bruce (Yankeesfan51) apparently insults everyone for a marketing ploy. Not quite sure why he figured he needed to do that but I guess he figured it worked for Andrew Dice Clay (for a while).

Rob M.

Do we need to slap you? Next thing you'll be giving us an explanation for emotional behavior of women.

I do miss Julie, Elliott, Dan Mathewson
