Re: REA Pick Ups

If the winner of REA lot 176 (1909-1911 T206 White Border "Tolstoi Backs" Collection (43) Including Cobb and Johnson) plans on breaking this up - I would be interested in the Willett, Detroit card.
Thank you,
Art M.

Ruth #3

My 1st post, and I can't think of a better subject for post #1 than a Babe Ruth 1933 Goudey acquisition. I had to go one bid higher than I would have liked, but am happy to have obtained my 3rd Ruth Goudey. Just need one more, unfortunately the toughest - #53. But at least I have all three poses.

By the way, Hiya all. Great site and great forums. :)

Nice pick up on the Ruth

Bosox Blair 05-13-2012 09:55 PM

Oh yeah, if anyone here scored the M116 lot (#242), I'm interested in purchasing the Wood...if you don't need it. Please PM me!

Cheers,
Blair

Underbidder on a few, and won a few. I believe it's been 8 years since the last time a T5 Walsh came up for sale (and it was this one):

Thanks Jeff - given the rarity, I wasn't sure what to expect with the Walsh - I know there was a unique pose Auth Cobb that went for quite a bit a year or two ago and was very happy this ended were it did.

Great card -- if there are no spider wrinkles, I bet SGC would bump that one to an SGC 60. I would consider submitting it in slab to see.

My SGC 60 Grove used to be in a PSA 4 holder:

Thanks guys. It was a late addition after I was getting my brains beaten in on some other lots I was bidding on.

Sometimes the perfect plan falls apart. Fortunately I have two others. If it was one I needed I would be devastated!

HOF Auto Rookies 05-14-2012 10:19 AM

Whoever won lot 910 with Wheat, Cuyler and Hafey and looking to sell or trade those, please contact me.

jcmtiger 05-14-2012 10:34 AM

Any Detroit Old Judge cards from the lots I may be interested if they come up for sale.

Thanks joe

Michael Peich 05-14-2012 11:10 AM

Hi all-I am interested in T209-IIs if the winner of Lot #737 has any to sell. Thank you.
Cheers, Mike

E94 near set

I wasn't going to pay 13k for a group of cards I already had, just to get one E94 common, the red background Lake. If you bought this lot and are willing to sell it and get a nice price on the Lake, send me a pm or email. I'll keep the buyer's name confidential if you'd like.

Roger that! Danger of two bidders fighting it out

E98 Mack

Not cheap, but since I had 7 Old Puts already, I would've paid a good bit more for it. Only one known of Mack and only 18 documented Old Put Cigar's total.

Edwolf1963 05-15-2012 08:14 AM

REA lot #179

I won REA lot #179 - the 25 T206 HOFs in PSA 4 or 4.5s. I only need 3-5 to swap out w/what I have in lower grade and / or straight sell the rest. If anyone needs any of those (and the link to the lot is still up), let me know as I will probably list on Net54 first. Check out the link on REA (if it's still up?) - beautiful fronts, well centered and clean (looked really strong for the grade), although no shot of the backs, so not sure what they hold? (always afraid of the all-too-often PSA 4 or 5 with wrinkles or paper loss)

Anyway, the ones (offhand, need to reference and I'm of the country until next week) I know I'll keep / swap out are:

Matty Portarit (replaces a Matty in a 3 - which I'll list)
M Brown Cubs (replaces a 3 - which I'll list as well)
Cy Young Bare Hand (replaces a 3, list that one as well)
A couple others I can't recall now and I may keep/swap some of the SOV 150s as well.

Thanks,

Ed

Congrats on the Mack. I was a bidder but I bowed out with other irons in the fire. You are right though, you'll never see another Old Put Mack for sale. Good job! ;)

Just got my REA winnings from Saturday's auction via FEDEX.

Thanks Rob!

Just received my REA item today as well, 1915 Boston vs. Philadelphia World Series Program. Thanks again, Rob, for the speedy service and picking up the shipping costs this year.

I guess 'picking up the shipping costs' worked in some folks favor; it did not work in mine. I won 2 cards and the extra 1% BP cost me an additional $90.50, which is well more then what insured shipping would have cost.

calvindog 05-16-2012 07:28 PM

Sounds like you got screwed.

Not really - I knew what I was paying for - I'm just not going to thank him for picking up the shipping costs, when I actually paid more for them in the BP.

Bicem 05-16-2012 08:31 PM

better than +1% BP and no free shipping I guess

HRBAKER 05-16-2012 08:41 PM

Matt,

$90.50, no step for a stepper! ;)

For those of you who already received those items that u won from REA, how did u pay them? Does REA accept credit card? The auction just ended ~72 hrs ago.

joeadcock 05-17-2012 05:03 AM

EJW

Nice card.

REA doesn't accept credit cards. Rob sends some winning lots to better customers & friends after the auction ends.
Some have posted here during the last few auctions that they rec'd their lots before they even wrote out the check.

And much better than Heritage's auction, which ended a week earlier, 19.5% BP, $28 to ship one small item, I paid via credit card the next day and it still hasn't shipped. But just sayin'.....

That seems egregious. Not sure what the justification would be.

With twin products called Close's Butter Balls and Oppie Dildock's one has to wonder if Mr. Close was in on the joke or not.
