2999 - Provoke Me - I Dare You

My next post will be considered a milestone by some. It really means nothing to me, except that the majority of my prior posts probably were necessary only to reach this number and most of them added very little to expanding the body of knowledge relevant to the hobby. I realize that fully. My post count is only indicative of the fact that I have been around for awhile, and have never been banned.;)

I have made a few friends and a few enemies along the way. You know who you are even if you are not sure which category you belong in.

I currently have a sale pending on BST, which will be #500 for me in that section. That is a milestone that I am proud of. Being able to successfully complete that many transactions with only a few little bumps along the way is a tribute to all of you, who have dared to tango (it takes two) with me either as a buyer, a seller or a trader.

So here is the deal. Many of my 2999 posts have been in response to a prior post. A few I wish I hadn't made, a few may have been helpful to some and many might be referred to by some as obscure humor. My next post will be in this thread. Not to disappoint those with high expectations I am going to be tough to provoke. It won't be a "+1" or a "lol", and hopefully it will not be too obscure. All I ask is that someone succeed in provoking me to post again, because I am not ready to go away. Have at it.:D

JollyElm 04-08-2016 12:22 AM

Like the way Ty Cobb's hit total got reduced from an 'official' total of 4191 down to 4189, I think your post count is off by two. You are currently at 2,997.

Oh, and whatever political party you favor, you're wrong. I hate them.

brianp-beme 04-08-2016 02:02 AM

I guess it is a step down from semiprovoking

Frank, I'm afraid I can only amateurvoke you.

Wait what? They reduced Cobbs hit total? I did not know this!

swarmee 04-08-2016 05:21 AM

This reminds me of something a small business owner on Facebook would post to draw tertiary or quaternary friends they haven't seen in 12 years to post on their wall, thus improving their overall score in the algorithms and ensuring more of their posts make it back as advertising to their unwitting Rube friends. Nice social experiment.

iowadoc77 04-08-2016 05:47 AM

I am not sure

With all due respect Frank,
You call yourself Frank B MD
Are you certain it is not Frank B.M. D?
And you know the medical term for BM!
Certainly a weak attempt but an attempt nonetheless

mechanicalman 04-08-2016 05:51 AM

I read in a government document that you are suspected of shilling your 500 BST sales. You owe us the courtesy of addressing these allegations.

Hmmm. Interesting.

If nobody provokes Frank, he will be stuck at 2,999 forever and a day. He will "expire" too soon and unlike Clemente, never reach the vaunted 3,000 plateau.

We could even start a new thread disparaging Frank quite vociferously and, based on his "threat" above, he could never respond.

Hmmmmm. Interesting. Veeeeeerrrrrrrrrry Interesting.

:D

Can someone tell me how to block member frankbmd? Sam Majors

There's a similar story about Admiral Rickover. He was interviewing an officer who had applied for nuke school, and he told the applicant "You have two minutes to make me mad. Go." The officer began counting down from 120. At the 30 second mark, he began shoving the contents of Rickover's desk to the floor, breaking several items in the process. Rickover lept up and yelled "Ok, ok--I'm mad!" The officer was accepted into nuke school.

Being a fairly new guy here, I appreciated all the info I received to help me fit in, to learn, to help educate myself, but by the far the best info I received, which I still get occasionally, was the info I received to stay far away from Frank and any of his dealings!

I won't post the agonizing stories some members have had to endure dealing with him, but when I say, after reading only a couple of them, dealing with Frank on any matter, even if he promises far below market value on some of his cards, is something I will never consider, ever!!

ramram 04-08-2016 08:08 AM

Well, this is probably as good a place as any to bring this up but, word on the street in the medical community is that Frank gets a little "hands on" while patients are under sedation...and I'm dead serious. I'm suspecting he won't wish to comment on this as it is currently under investigation at his hospital. I'll post a link shortly to the story that was posted in his local paper. Doesn't look too good for ole Frank.

Perhaps this will inspire you to pen a limerick or song lyric. Breanna does rhyme with banana I am told.

Found! a rare pic of Frank in action. Soon to be a shiny topps card with 1/1s in 10 colors, maybe more.

irv 04-08-2016 08:39 AM

Well, I wasn't able to provoke Frank enough to post up number 3000, but he did PM me for the first time ever, twice, and, although I was somewhat joking in my first post, I will say what I wrote there appears to be more on the true side than on the fabricated side!!

One would think, since he is looking to be provoked, he would be a little bit more understanding, friendlier, nicer, but no, it looks like what I wrote about him hit a little closer to home than what I was anticipating!

Frank, please quit PMing me, I really don't care to hear about your thoughts on Leon and the sh*tty job you think is doing with this site.

Personally, I think Leon does a great job but if you think you could do so much better, then that is something you need to discuss with him, not me, nor anyone else for that matter!

Right now, I could care less if I ever see your 3000th's post! Imo, I think it would be best if you just forgot about it and this site altogether!

Why don't come out and be honest with everybody. We all know your Monster Number is closer to 50 than 500.

drmondobueno 04-08-2016 09:21 AM

Dear Dr Frank

I want my colon back. Seems I lost it and the guys were telling me you are a Dr Franknstein type of guy.

Oh, sorry, Leon corrected me. Beer n Brats. Who woulda known. You went to med school to learn to make sausages?

A few other things I am parting with are nuggets of knowledge about myself:

1. I was the second gunman on the grassy knoll.

2. The moon landing in '69 was fake. I know because I filmed it in my basement.

3. Unicorns are real. I have two of them in a secure stable near Area 51.

4. The Monster Number thread was set up as a secret data collection endeavor, sponsored by some tech company whose corporate name is also a verb.

5. I personally saw Babe Ruth's called shot, the 1919 World Series, Ty Cobb's first game, and King Kelly's last game.

6. My Medical Degree IS real. The correspondence school said so.

That's all for now. Be on the lookout for my 3,000th post, in which I will discuss quantum physics, macroeconomics, and ice cream.

- Frankie (goes to Hollywood)

Damn, Frank. I never would have guessed. You like ice cream, too? :D

Frank are you a boob man or a butt man ?

Ps congrats on the milestone

edjs 04-08-2016 10:19 AM

Frank,

I will take a much different tactic to get your 3000th post to come out. When I first joined this board, you were one of the first people to reach out to me, and help me learn about collecting. I have bought many T206 cards from your BST offers, you are always reasonably priced, and offer nice cards for the money. You have taught me prices, fair competition, and helped me develop my eye for a good card that is under graded. I won one of your contests and you sent me a free Zeenut card that I still treasure to this day. I enjoy reading your posts, I enjoy your friendly banter with some of the other board members. You are always available to share your knowledge of cards, and a major asset to this board with your many contributions. So I want to say one thing to you, Dr. Frank. Thank you.

Frank is a great guy! I've only met him once...but he is super smart...interesting...funny as shit...sharp witted...a great poet/songwriter...although a little dated at times for me...he offers cards at fair prices consistently...and he entertains us often.

So who am i to judge? When Frank told me that he really preferred young boys over women his age...we came to the conclusion that he should marry a lady boy from Thailand.

And Frank has been insanely happy ever since! Who am I to judge?

ctownboy 04-08-2016 10:49 AM

As my Niece and Nephews would say, I am going old school on this one:

Frank, I don't know you but I was told that Yo Momma smokes cigars and wears combat boots.

Oh yes, something else I heard about you Frank,

You give prostate exams without using your hands ! ? !

bnorth 04-08-2016 11:12 AM

I have only had 2 interactions with Frank, both times it was trying to buy a card from him.

1st time I PMed him saying I will take the card you have listed. Well 2 weeks later he got back to me saying it was priced wrong and added $20 to the price. I really wanted it so I said ok. Another week goes by before he finally responded back with his payment info.

2nd time he had a nice card listed that I wanted but only had a picture of the front of the card. I PMed him and asked for a picture of the back side. He responded almost instantly. Bad part was it was a picture of his nude backside. Then a couple minutes later I got another PM from him saying he was sorry because he thought he was returning a PM from another site he frequents.

glchen 04-08-2016 11:16 AM

Frank, that is very generous of you to give your entire T206 collection to whomever provokes you for your 3000 post! That 3000th post may not be meaningful to you, but that lucky person who wins that set will be ecstatic.

Hey Frank, if you think your crappy, overpriced cards can be disguised by rinky-dink marketing ploys and silly stories/play on words, you are sadly mistaken. This is no game. Do you think grown men/women just throw around $100 bills on cardboard prints for fun? When I see your BST posts, I just move on.

You should use your 3000th post

To further inflate your bogus "Monster Number Thread", sitting there as the all time leader in thread replies with 1730...which explains how you got almost 60% of the way to your 3000th post....

your move sir.... :D
