Hakes - pin values?

Posted By: martindl

I've collected Memorabilia for years and if time permits I'll post pics at some point.

Anyway, hopefully I'm not outting a well hidden auction, but did anyone here follow the baseball items/pins in the latest Hakes auction?

While I've got several pins, I'm not up on values/scarcity.

$190, including vig, for a P2 Cobb seems low, even though it wasn't perfect.

$975 for a Sam Crawford Morton's Buster Brown pin?

Heres the link to the baseball items

http://www.hakes.com/search.asp?depth=20&page=1&Auction=191&CategoryID= 148

Hakes - pin values?

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I think that's about the right price for that Cobb. I used to get Hake's catalogs, but I haven't bid in a long time so I must have fallen off their mailing list. I still get their emails so I did see this auction.

The P2 pins seem to be a real bargain, and probably have been for a long time. I picked up a nice Walter Johnson off of ebay for $35 last year.

I don't know the going rates on the Morton's Detroit pins, but that seems about right to me also.

Posted By: Tom Boblitt
two 'POSITION' pins in the auction.........I think the Crawford was a little low actually as well as the Cobb. Crawford more low than Cobb. You can often find nice pinback bargains in their auctions and when they have their small item sales...........
Posted By: Dan Bretta
This is it Mike. As far as I know this is the only place to pick up this excellent book. It comes straight from the author Paul Muchinsky.

http://greatoakspress.com/

Hakes - pin values?

Posted By: Mike H
The SCD baseball card annual price guides have a number of the pin "sets" listed as does the non-paper memorabilia guide Hake put together years ago. Although the Hake guide has very dated pricing, it is the most complete guide to sets and a few oddball pins I have seen. It's been out of print for years but do show up on Amazon from time to time. As someone mentioned on an earlier post, I love the lack of price guides for memorabilia.

Hakes - pin values?

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I knew I had seen that Fan-Taz pinback before, but I couldn't remember where. I sure wish I had set a higher snipe on that last one on ebay. I think that has to be my favorite baseball advertising pinback.
