Nickname "Swingers"
There are lots of old ballplayers, many of whom had nicknames, but sometimes the nickname would have been more appropriate for another guy.
Looking for real people and a real nickname associated with someone else, that is a better fit. #2 below is exactly what i am looking for. Not too many rules here (only one), but someone will break it.:D I will add to list below from the posts on the thread at my discretion. Join the fun. #1 Red Barber - "The Yankee Clipper" #2 "Oil Can" Oyler #3 Connie Mack "Truck" #4 Jerry Mallett - "The Hammer" |
Dick Pole - The Big Hurt
|
Frank Thomas is not the "Big Hurt", Ellsbury is, he's hurt 100% of the time.

I always enjoyed Porkchops Whitehead (from the old collection)...and always there, Dizzy Dean. And I am pretty sure I just broke some rules by not playing correctly. :(

Bob Lemon > Pie Traynor ?
Before that, another completely different pairing came immediately to mind, but it's in such grotesquely bad taste that were we to post it here, we'd be forever shunned by the Net54 community... |

Just to clarify we think that one existing nickname should be used with one player, who does not have that nickname, but that nickname is in some way more appropriate for the player you match it with than the player who has that nickname.
We have looked in the mirror and we agree that this would constitute a legitimate response. That said we realize there is no prize and that the fundamental rule has already been violated numerous times including by Leon initially. Therefore we really don’t care what you all post. Nevertheless we will continue to add to the list in the original post with answers that conform with the only rule we have stipulated. We thank you, I think. |
