Requiem For a Flip
I was working in my lab, last Wednesday night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight For my Monster from his slab, began to quip And suddenly he destroyed his flip He did the smash, he did the monster mash The flip was trash, it was a forum smash He told my stash, it caught on in a flash They did the smash, they did the monster mash. From the lab in New Jersey out in the East where flip makers ordered green borders ceased Then fools all came from their humble abodes To give them a jolt from their electrodes. They did the mash, they did the monster mash The flip was trash, it was a forum smash They told their stash, it caught on in a flash They did the smash, they did the monster mash Forum zombies were just having fun The piling on had just begun The guests included Woeffel, Brockelman and the One The scene was arockin’, all weekend long Jerry, Dan and others begged for a song Slab crackers everywhere started to arrive Joining in the chorus with the “Flip-Kicker Five” They played the smash, they played the monster mash Their flips were trash. It was a forum bash They played the mash, it had caught on in a flash Their flips were trash, they did the monster mash When out of his coffin, the foreman did arrive Seemingly distraught by the “Flip-Kicker Five” He opened his lid and uttered from his lips “What ever happened to my Green Bordered Flips?” So now they’re back, the flips with panache Take out the trash, it was a forum smash We told our stash, who caught on in a flash No further bash, no further monster mash Any similarity to the following clip is purely coincidental.:D:D:D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46GXQ2fTFzo |

I always assumed that since the cards are stored upright, having the pertinent information on the top of the front allows you to identify the card as you "flip" through you collection. At least that is why in my world.:) |

So why is the coin thing called a flip? Because you flip it open to see the reverse side of the coin. Soon the term "flip" was used to refer to either the holder itself or the paper insert. PSA started out in life as a subsidiary of the coin grading service PCGS, and the terminology transferred easily. Bill |
There is no stopping the Monster when he wants to mash!
