Cobb Reprint, right?
Yes, a reprint.
Smooth job by the seller putting the picture sideways. Definitely made it harder to tell it was a reprint. Obviously fooled enough bidders.
That seller also purchased quite a few reprints recently. I'm sure we can look forward to those being auctioned off as originals once their images disappear from his Ebay feedback in another month or two.
He didn't list it as original. Under item specifics, "original/reprint", he put unknown. It would be nice if ebay mandated you identify it one way or the other. If you don't know for sure, they should make you list it as a reprint.
Just my opinion. r/ Frank |
Anytime I bid on a card on Ebay I check for the "Original" designation. If it is listed as "Unknown", to me it is too risky to take a chance on.
I took some notes on and screen captures of reprints that the seller bought back in September. Once those are no longer visible in his feedback, he'll probably put them up for sale and then I'll report him to eBay.
I'm not sure anything can be done by ebay as long as he doesn't list the card(s) as original. Again, I'm not sure he did anything wrong and listed the cards as unknown, unless they actually say reprint on the back. I guess you might have an argument if he bought them as "reprints", then lists them as "unknown" as he certainly would know.

That was my thought - if he bought them as reprints and lists them as "unknown," there is definitely a level of misrepresentation there.
I say we all play a game of Ro-Sham-Bo (look it up if you need to) with him. I want to go first:D
I wrote him a couple days ago and explained how to tell its a reprint and he wrote back a couple times with questions. I thought it was an honest mistake, but then he never killed the auction so..... oh well newbie who won learns a tough lesson. Its actually an easy reprint to spot the caption is not even close.

To describe the winning bidder in the immortal word of Walter Matthau (and many others), "What a Schmuck!"
Hey-maybe it will show up in a month or so on Ebay in a "fake" PSA holder?:D
This seller knows exactly what he's doing. The fact that Frank W. contacted him and explained exactly how the Cobb could be identified as a reprint, and the seller still didn't kill the auction, proves it. The "unknown" designation is a loophole that's been used by countless unscrupulous sellers before, this seller knows it, and he'll continue to take advantage of it.

The buyer of the Cobb gave him great feedback.

The auction ended at 6:00 PM Saturday night. The seller lives in Minnesota. The buyer lives in NJ. Feedback was left Monday morning. The question is: How did he get it there so fast???? |

That is an easy one. This seller is using the same strategy that made Mastro so successful. Lovely Day... |

Well, no complaints about Fed Ex, or UPS or the USPS on this item! :) |
The sideways "reprint" Cobb has resurface in record time.

probably a case of the buyer realizing right away (maybe from here) that he was taken and confronted the seller. Both parties agree to forget the whole thing and leave feedback for each other....
