What Board Members Have T206 complete BACk SETS??

It won't be many of us and you must include the tough Brown Lenox, Brown old Mill, and BL 460 to qualify.

Count me as 1

ullmandds 05-29-2012 04:17 PM

since you'll be getting numerous responses from people saying..."I have all of them except..."I have the anti T206 back set...I have none of them!

atx840 05-29-2012 04:29 PM

Oh so close...but not really...BL460 is as high as I got. I know of two other board members and a non member who have 100% complete runs.

Leon 05-29-2012 04:52 PM

what is complete?

What is complete? Do you include Cobb back? Any other "tweeners"? ..

danmckee 05-29-2012 05:09 PM

Cobb back not included as that is not a T206 in my eyes.

Thanks for pointing that out Leon
dan

Cardboard Junkie 05-30-2012 02:19 AM

last count 1,114 diff front back combos.... but no cobb back (sniff, sniff). Some on this board consider the cobb back a t-206 aloha, dave

philliesphan 05-30-2012 02:50 AM

Don't count me, either

I have all the known Phillie backs, but that is less than a full run.

Regards,
ms

I understand Dave, it is just my personal opinion, not a known fact.

I don't like the fact that no other front can be found with that back and that the fronts have a sheen on them like the coupons. Dan.

wonkaticket 05-30-2012 08:46 AM

Good question Dan, I know Jim B has a smokin one so do you and a few others. I also spent sometime on mine too trying to get as nice an example of each that I could. Would be neat to see how many other guys have messed with this. Mine in case folks want to see. I too am up in the air on Cobb/Cobb but would love to own one either way...as soon as I get one it will be a T206 to me :)

Cool thing is there are always little neat items to find for not a ton of money which I think are cool and somewhat scarce too. Like this mis-strike I picked up. Lots of little things to be found if you look which is what makes this and other sets neat.

P.S. David did you ever get around to scanning your Brown Lenox of Burch you mentioned you found in your collection?

Close

I came close, but just couldn't find a Piedmont 350 . . .

Jay off the charts cool, love the "Brown" Lenox Cobb.

Thanks for posting....

cfc1909 05-30-2012 01:09 PM

probably 8 or 10 years ago I bought 2 BL 460 HOFers and a brown Lenox from Dan. About 5 or 6 years ago I traded for a Brown Old Mill from Jerry to complete my back set.

Since then I have sold both BL 460s to help pay for my girls college tuition. Currently I only need BL 460 to be complete again. There are several "tweeners" backs -some collectors know about and some are unknown.

Cobb -Cobb I have never owned weather it is a t206 or not is still yet to be proven and Burdick assigned it as so so we keep it there but with it only having the Cobb back it will always be up for discussion.

I know of 5 complete runs and I am minus 1 and Cobb/Cobb.

Dan the collector you sold your brown Old Mill with writing on is now complete. He just picked up BL 460 and brownn Lenox.

oldjudge 05-30-2012 01:32 PM

Thanks guys. As you know, I'm really a 19th century guy, but I have always loved the Cobb bat off pose.

E93 05-30-2012 04:59 PM

Jay,
That Cobb collection is off the charts! Uzit and brown Lenox!:eek::eek:
JimB

Here is my unqualified T206 back run.

Since this thread has strayed a bit from the original question, to the best of my knowledge, this is a complete T206 front/back set of all three Lajoie poses:

ullmandds 05-30-2012 06:43 PM

threads are made to stray...great runs guys!!! collecting t206 backs in the late eighties/early nineties is what got me big into vintage in the first place...a complete run was always my goal.

I'll have to live vicariously through yous guys cards!

JasonD08 05-30-2012 06:50 PM

Awesome John and Jim! John looks like you have one space let for that Cobb back. If I can ask what would it be as an estimate to put that together in commons?

Jason

oldjudge 05-30-2012 07:48 PM

Thanks Chris-great job!

Jay,
That's an awesome collection.

MVSNYC 05-30-2012 09:57 PM

no disrespect to Dan or Wonka (love you guys, you have incredible collections), but if the question is who has a "complete" T206 back set, i think we have to count the Cobb. therefore, so far i'm counting only one (Jim B's). i know of one other collector who posts here that has a complete back set including the Cobb...maybe he'll post in this thread.

wonkaticket 05-30-2012 10:08 PM

Mike, none taken....Cobb/Cobb has always been a card that has been one way or the other for most collectors. I guess it's all where you draw the line as for the book it's labeled as a T206. This has been discussed many times etc.

I guess Dan's question is more in general terms.

Said it before don't feel it's a T206 for a number of reasons but love to have one regardless.

Cheers,

John

atx840 05-30-2012 10:46 PM

Jason, REA recently offered a near complete run (missing a Drum & brown OM) that went for 18k. If you could find an OM and a decent Drum, they would likely be close to that again.

Wonka's & Jim R's are complete in my books.

CW 05-30-2012 11:00 PM

Ahhhhhhh.... so THAT'S why I can't find a midgrade Cobb bat off on the open market!! ;) :D

Great stuff, guys!

wonkaticket 05-30-2012 11:03 PM

Once thing has been confirmed by me in this thread...when I grow up I want to be Jim B and Jay. :)

JimB

E93 05-31-2012 02:04 AM

Rob D,
Incredible Lajoie run!!! WOW!
JimB
P.S. You killed me on that brown Lenox batting a few years ago. I wanted that card so badly!

E93 05-31-2012 02:14 AM

While we are at it.

This thread should be retitled "The Masters"

Brian Weisner 05-31-2012 07:55 AM

Hi Dan,
I have owned them all, but sold my Broadleaf 460, Brown Lenox and traded my Brown Old Mill(Revelle) to Jerry who eventually traded it to Jimmy where it belongs....Hope you are well Brian

PS Nice cards guys.....

atx840 05-31-2012 08:00 AM

Crazy runs, the Masters for sure, thanks to Rob A for the Drum.

This is the second time i've put together a near-back run. the other time was about 6 years ago, but that set was dismantled and sold...i put this one together over the last year or so.

Thanks to Chris for helping organize this mega scan for me.

E93 09-12-2012 10:55 PM

Nice job Michael! It has been fun watching you pursue this.

atx840 09-12-2012 11:18 PM

Nice Michael, it was great watching you cross these off the list. Now get that Hindu!

I shamelessly updated the Hofman run a few posts above. :)

wolf441 09-13-2012 05:54 AM

Wait....I don't see one "Old Mill - Blue Back" in any of these collections....therefore they must all be considered incomplete!! :)

wonkaticket 09-13-2012 06:02 AM

Colors....I have em' all! :)

Re: What Board Members Have T206 complete BACk SETS??

Shocking to me that 47 posts in, no one has mentioned the newly discovered blue Old Mill. Is this not yet considered a back variation?

ullmandds 09-13-2012 10:10 AM

it's been mentioned!
