Haubach fielder 17 inches

I have been given a haubach baseball figurine. I have done some research and believe it to be a fielder, I have roughly measured it and it is around 17". It has red and white stripes and is by Haubach. I have seen some similar online go for a few $100 but mine is a lot bigger and the boy is in a different position . I was wondering if anyone knew what it was worth.
Many thanks

It's a rare one. There were four pieces to the Baseball set, with the Pitcher and Batter being the most common by far. The Fielder and Baserunner are seldom-seen. I've seen a few complete sets of 4 over the years (in auctions, etc.) but have not seen this one offered individually. So tough to determine a price, since comparable exemplars are few and far between.

Hope this helps a bit... Nice piece!

Do you know how much the full set went for? many thanks

How have I not seen this version before? Very cool and my new favorite from the set.

Well... Here's the complete set of four, which apparently failed to meet Lelands' $5K reserve. I believe the set was re-listed in a subsequent auction, and sold for somewhere between 3.5K and 4K (if memory serves).

I cannot find the follow-up listing, however. It was probably in a Mastro/Legendary auction, for which we all lament the fact that those archives are now hidden to the public. Very frustrating, as their database was the most complete in terms of historical reference.

Mark here is a link to legendary. Haven't tried any research but I saved a link.

Thanks Clint...

Can't get the archive portion to work, though. The "History" seems to require a User ID and Password. Apparently my old ones are now inactive, as they will not "take".

Perhaps someone out there has the ability or tech expertise to get around this? Either way... Much appreciated!

FWIW, here's a better image of the fourth/final piece.

The Baserunner...

Also this may be a stupid question but do you or anyone know if the figures where based on anyone or are they just a generic boy

perezfan 06-19-2016 05:45 PM

Almost positive they are generic. I don't think those distant Germans could tell Cap Anson from Buck Ewing if their life depended on it!
