1909 Boston Herald Supplements Info Wanted

Posted By: MacDice
I wanted to see if anyone had information about 1909 Boston Herald Supplements? For years I have been looking for a particular supplement “card” of a relative and have had no luck finding anyone that knows anything about them or had seen them. A few years ago I found a collector that sent me an image of the supplement "card" that I was looking for but they only had the one example in their collection and did not want to part with it. Are they classified as cards? Price ranges? If anyone has any of this particular issue I would love to see some images of the different cards.

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley
I am sorry in advance for the large scan below...

They are not really considered "cards" in the strictest sense of the word. I believe they were originally issued in pairs with the Boston Sunday Herald, below I have pictured the only one in my collection, Heinie Wagner and Bill Dahlen. That being said they are among the more beautiful "in action" pieces of the period. Many of the images are not found elsewhere.
-Rhett

Again, sorry for the size of th image but it is a pretty large piece, and it is tough to read names if I make it any smaller...

More often these are seen seperated as singles even though as Rhett's example shows they were issued as attached pairs:

Beaumont

Becker

Speaker

Stahl

Posted By: Steve Murray
Not to take us too far afield of the topic it should be noted that the Boston Sunday Post (not to be confused with the Boston Sunday Herald) also issued supplements at the time. Here's one:

Posted By: MacDice
Looking for the Harry Smith supplement. I would like to get one of each of his cards but I am finding it to be a challenge since other than this issue he has a W600 and an E107 that are very hard to find. His M116 was easy to locate.

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley
MacDice, I didn't put 2 and 2 together until now that the following item also pictures Harry Smith (it is the only example of the pin I have ever seen.) It was made during his days as Manager of the Newark team...

-Rhett
