Greatest collection ever on eBay!

Jason Schwartz here, since I may be impugning a fellow collector.

Check out eBay seller flowerbibles240 for a comically great collection. I almost believed till I got to the T206 Wagner!

Man, I was ready to go top dollar, but it's a bit more dinged up than the last one he sold. So maybe I'll wait for his next one.

As funny as the listing are, the prices realized on some of the sold items are kiND of not funny. The seller does admit the small possibility some of these cards are reprints, but that didn't stop some of the buyers.

I can just see the look on some kid's face Friday AM when he dumps out his Christmas stocking to find not one or two but three autographed Babe Ruth cards. Wow!

Link for reference....(and thanks for putting your name out there as per the rules, it's appreciated)

Humorous how all his pre war are torn an aged in the EXACT same manner

Peter_Spaeth 12-18-2015 08:39 AM

He says they are reprints, so what's the issue?

None of these cards have been professionally graded so I am selling all of them as reprints. So bid accordingly

Shoeless Moe 12-18-2015 09:14 AM

He's really hurting his sales by listing them under Football Cards.

iowadoc77 12-18-2015 09:45 AM

what what?

You guys don't collect reprints?
Just think of the collection you could have with all the vintage Ruth cards selling lately!

(sarcasm... hopefully everyone caught that)

When a seller knows their stuff is fake, I am not fond of such pretense.

h2oya311 12-18-2015 09:53 AM

some of them look pretty decent...but why bother with a 1974 Topps Pete Rose, a 1965 Topps Casey Stengel and a 1982 Topps Ozzie Smith reprint?? I guess to make the rest of the collection look somewhat legit??

brianp-beme 12-18-2015 10:41 AM

Praise the Lord, and pass the reproduction!

With flowers and bibles as part of their ebay handle, I just might become a reprint convert.

Brian

Drats -- I missed out on an autographed Christy Mathewson T206 card that sold for $49 last week.

Anybody got another one? 😄

kkkkandp 12-18-2015 07:32 PM

I'm Extremely Disappointed...

...he had no fake Old Judges.

Let him know you really want one. In sure he could come up with another in a day or two.

Stampsfan 12-19-2015 12:37 AM

He found it under the moon rock he has in his back garden.

Depending on the time it takes to make fakes there could be a business model here somewhere....lots of bids on lots of them (I haven't checked on the bidders)

Look at the sellers feedback. The last 100 or so feedbacks are from the same person.

Somewhere there is no Joy in Mudville only Casey doesn't know it....yet...

Imagine the Heartache when he or the next generation go to liquidate that "collection"......:confused:

jason.1969 12-22-2015 11:10 AM

The underbids are so funny to me. Somewhere there's a guy that thinks a Joe Jackson is real enough to spend $36 on but not $37.

Assuming they are not "professional bidders":D

Seller dscaflac seems to have the same collection but nearly 2000 sold items. His descriptions are funny. Sometimes he's a guy who spent hundreds of thousands on cards over 22 years and is forced to sell due to a car accident. Other times he's a guy who knows nothing about cards but got some stuff from his father in law.

TheNightmanCometh 02-01-2016 12:14 PM

Sold the same '52 Mantle 3 different times.

jason.1969 02-01-2016 12:23 PM

Forget all this Mastro shilling stuff...selling fake Mantles is where the real money's at!

TheNightmanCometh 02-01-2016 01:00 PM

I initially came to this thread because I saw "Greatest collection ever". Since this thread isn't about that, let me hijack it for a moment and ask a question. Who is recognized as having the greatest sports card collection ever?

Sean 02-01-2016 01:26 PM

My guess would be Larry Fritsch.
