Love of the Game Spring auction

Been looking but do not see any dates or a preview. Any ideas when auction begins?

MVSNYC 02-24-2018 11:54 AM

I believe it’ll open around second week March. I know Al & team have been working very hard at putting together a great offering.

pawpawdiv9 02-24-2018 11:54 AM

As a consignor, I was told this by S.
We anticipate the auction will go live in early- to mid-March, with a closing date of Saturday, March 24. Best of luck

Leon 02-24-2018 11:58 AM

edited due to comment made in wrong thread :)

kmac32 02-24-2018 02:48 PM

Have heard that there are some awesome things in auction so guess I am getting excited just to look

Steve D 02-24-2018 07:15 PM

Their ad in the March SMR says it is "Coming in March".

Yup, got the same email as a consignor

Topnotchsy 02-24-2018 08:20 PM

I’ve got a 1934 US Tour of Japan signed baseball and 1909 Walter Johnson letter up in the auction. I know they have some other really nice items consigned so looking forward to a nice auction.

g_vezina_c55 02-26-2018 07:31 AM

i am a consignor too !
and i received same info : closing date will be the march 24 !

T205 GB 02-26-2018 08:25 AM

Just a Rumor.....

I did hear that this was going to be the best auction they have offered. Best of luck to them and all consignors

What else would they say? "This is going to be the worst auction we have ever
offered?" :D

HAHAHAHA:D:D I can't even argue that.

Bicem 02-28-2018 04:11 PM

Opens next week, definitely not our worst ever! :D

It's going to be pretty damn good. The postcard selection is insane, some really beautiful and historic photos, a ton of autographs and of course a great selection of cards.

So when do we get to see? Do we have to wait until it opens?

Let March begin guys!

Bicem 02-28-2018 05:41 PM

Yes, you have to wait.

All it takes is patience, just a little patience, is all you need.

Gross.

Just finalized everything with the catalog, our biggest one yet. It is a pretty extensive auction, with some fantastic pieces in it. I always judge the quality of our auctions based on how many things in it I've never seen before, and there's a heck of a lot of that kind of stuff in it.

Auction will be live before the catalogs mail, but all of it should happen next week. Without getting too spammy, here's a sneak preview of a piece I've been geeking out over all week this week:

It's the Osceola Base Ball Club of 1871, from Stratford, CT. The thing is huge - almost two feet long in its frame. That's Orator Jim O'Rourke in the back row, right.

Im looking forward to it as always. LOTG usually always has something within my collecting focus.

JeremyW 03-06-2018 03:17 PM

Are we getting close?

Bicem 03-06-2018 05:12 PM

Yes, opening soon...

Griffins 03-06-2018 10:44 PM

Monday?

iowadoc77 03-07-2018 06:37 AM

Must. Have. Auction. Now.
Can't wait to see it! Sounds pretty loaded

T205 GB 03-07-2018 12:41 PM

We have some movement. Banner on web page has been updated!:D

Al C.risafulli 03-07-2018 01:29 PM

We will be live late tonight. It keeps dumping snow on me here in NJ, which is making it difficult for me to get all the descriptions finished. But the auction will launch late tonight, even if I've still got to finish up some of the descriptions while bidding is open!

Anticipation!

I just think it's great to see this much anticipation for an auction. It's great for our hobby! Yes, I too can't wait to see it sometime tonight!

Bicem 03-07-2018 07:49 PM

Anyone like postcards?

Why yes, yes I do.

MR RAREBACK 03-07-2018 08:14 PM

waiting:confused:

Snapolit1 03-07-2018 08:16 PM

Where Al is in North Jersey he probably got hit with 20+ inches of snow today. Cut the man a little slack . . . . .

jb217676 03-07-2018 08:17 PM

I thought Canadians lived in igloos, it almost feels like spring here in Toronto! Oh, and postcards are cool too.

Griffins 03-07-2018 11:46 PM

Auction is up.

orly57 03-08-2018 12:36 AM

Some impressive Rare pre-war cards. Great gathering Jeff.

Bicem 03-08-2018 01:31 AM

Thanks, good luck everyone!

toledo_mudhen 03-08-2018 03:41 AM

1100+ lots of pretty cool Stuff!

T205 GB 03-08-2018 07:27 AM

WOW!!:eek::eek:

What a hell of an auction you guys put together! Seriously, there is something for every collector in this auction and a selection too. Just about every write up I have read makes me want to bid on the card(s) like I have to have them. In this case only I am glad I am a poor man:D

calvindog 03-08-2018 07:52 AM

Great auction, great writeups. LOTG really does represent a part of the hobby market that no other auction house does. I think I bid on 40 items.

MVSNYC 03-08-2018 08:41 AM

Fantastic offering. Truly a great collection of curated sports artifacts!

I'm always thrilled to be a consignor & bidder.

The current auction is absolutely amazing. Some of the postcards in this auction, I have never even seen before. I have about a dozen bids in so far, so what I am about to say is not at all meant to be a dick in any way :):

Jim Thorpe did not kick six field goals in the 1911 Carlisle-Harvard game (lot 1040). Thorpe had four field goals in that game; Alex Arcasa scored Carlisle's only touchdown that day.

That Mantle 3.5...gorgeous card. Well timed, after the exceptional 2.5 in Heritage commanded so much.

ethicsprof 03-08-2018 10:31 AM

Al and Jeff, this auction house is without peer. Congratulations! I'm bidding scores of times already. all the best good friends, Barry

Snapolit1 03-08-2018 10:55 AM

It's nice to patronize an auction house run by actual collectors, who share a passion for what we all collect. It comes through in everything these guys do. When it's a really cool item, Al and Jeff's excitement jumps off the page. And it's genuine excitement. . . .not manufactured salesman's b.s.

darwinbulldog 03-08-2018 12:56 PM

Got my first 35 bids in. Gonna take a bit of a breather now then see what else I "need" to bid on.

Stonepony 03-08-2018 01:30 PM

Great auction !!! Lots on my radar too

sycks22 03-08-2018 02:00 PM

Another stellar auction Al.
