Thanks to Leon who gave me the okay a few weeks ago to post the information about the authorized biography of former Chicago White Sox star pitcher, Joel Horlen. I wasn't sure where to post it, but I'm a sports memorabilia collector—so, thought this might be a good spot.

So, have you ever thought about writing a book?

That's a challenge I never considered until turning 61, just before I retired. Well, three years later—after countless hours of traveling, researching, interviewing, developing, writing, seeking advice, getting help—lots of it, and with my 'behind' often times firmly planted in chair—the book, entitled "Texas Heat, Chicago Fire: The Remarkable Life of Joe Horlen", is completed.

Released 2 days ago on Amazon...

Congrats Bob! Cool! :)
Wow, I didn't know that you were working on a book on your friend Joel Horlen.
I will certainly pick up a copy and can't wait to read it.

I have also considered writing a book & do plan to do so in a few years.
In the past, I have contributed content and collectible images to others that have undertaken such a task.

Thank you Scott.

I meant to mention that the San Antonio Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is helping to coordinate a special tribute to Joe next week in his home town. We hope this may lead to a nice surge in donations (in Joe's honor) to that charity.

After two days on Amazon, Joe's story appears to be gaining traction:

Bob - Congratulations! It looks like a good read.

If I wasn't so far behind on my reading, I would jump into it...but, it's on my list and I will get to it.

Congrats! That's awesome. I'm currently writing a novel right now myself. It's not sports related, though, just fiction. In 2014 I had my first short story published. I also just had my comic strip debut in print too.

I've actually written two books. I'm a history buff and a college football fan so I did some work for the University of Nebraska. Once my research for them was done I used some of the info for the book seen below.

The cover photo is mine as well. Not sure if it's cool to post this here, but you asked.

i did a similar book for Western Michigan University, but this one sold much better

Great looking book, Bob! As a White Sox fan, Joe holds a special place in my heart. I look forward to reading your work soon.

Looks like Joe stopped signing TTM too somewhat recently. I was a day late and a dollar short on that one. I hope he is doing well!

Congrats, Bob. I've been fortunate to have six books published in Canada and the US over the past 20 years, so I know what you've gone through. My latest project was co-authoring the autobiography of longtime Canadian heavyweight boxing champ George Chuvalo, who was ranked in the world's Top 10 from 1963-72 and is the only man to have fought the "holy trinity" of Muhammad Ali (twice), Joe Frazier and George Foreman. "Chuvalo: A Fighter's Life" was published by Harper-Collins in 2013 and achieved best-seller status in Canada. It has subsequently been released in the US, Britain, Australia and Croatia. While I specialize in writing about boxing, I'm also a lifelong hockey fan. "Big Bucks & Blue Pucks", published in 1997, was the first full history of the late, great World Hockey Association, and sold very well on both sides of the 49th.
Good luck with your next project!
