Help Id'ing junk ball with sigs?

Apologies in advance for wasting anybody's time with what we're pretty sure is Nothing with a capital N,
but a guy on another forum asked our help with this ball which he seems sure is a Brilliant Specimen.
Any insights at all on its age or the almost indiscernible signatures, including what we think is a laughably bad
attempt at a forgery at the bottom? Thanks...

It may be my 50 year old eyes, but I can’t make out anything.

Our eyes are older than yours and we can empathize -- we can hardly see anything on there either.
Ball looks like it was lacquered with a thick coat of Vaseline. Here's an adjusted pic, if it's of any help.
"Autographs" aside, can anyone determine the approximate age of this ball?

It looks like Lou (Not Gehrig) on the top and just below that it looks like Jack

Thanks for your input, Michael! Didn't want to suggest any interpretations of those barely visible sigs
and thereby mislead anybody, but since it's not getting a lot of looks anyway...
We could see "Lou," or "Lew," or "Leon" (!) at the top...
Not even sure there is a second auto between that and the one that runs across the center...
The one running across the middle, though, looks to us like "Earl Saturn" or "Carl Setuant"...
And at the very bottom, maybe a childlike stab at "--be Ruth."

We'd be content just getting a reliable estimate on the age of the ball. Haven't been able to find
a Reach model labelled "Special League," but we suspect it's a post-War model, and just the kind of thing
you'd get from the cheap bin in the sporting goods store.

Excuse the bump for one last shot at this...
Really just looking for an "age range" on the ball -- can no one say when this model of Reach ball was produced?
