New York Giants

I'm trying to recall if there was a more embarrassing start to the Giants' season than the poleaxing that the Cowboys just put on them. Now I know what it is like to be Jets fan.

Since 2000, Giants are 177-193, and Jets are 161-209. Neither one ie exactly the picture of consistency in recent times. Giants of course have 2 very impressive super bowl wins. Jets last won a superbowl when I was in kindergarden. I now have an AARP card.

Indeed, at least we have those old highlights of Eli Manning busting up the Patriots to fall back on when the going gets tough. Not sure the Namath clips are as readily available on YouTube.

I did not realize the Giants season started.

Perhaps their coach should tell them so they know when to start playing the game.

I think they thought this was the last preseason game.

I just saw this stat.
No team ever accomplished all this in an entire Season
The Giants did it all in 1 game

I didn't expect much from this team, but this is disappointing. :(

And Rodgers goes down minutes into his Jets debut! It's not the year for NY sports teams, is it....

Rodgers in a walking boot and no more details . . .

Yes, depressing game for the Jets fans, OT win notwithstanding. When you see how the Giants and Jets (and a whole bunch of other teams...ahem, like the Browns and Commanders) have struggled over the past decade, you have a much greater appreciation for a guy like Eli Manning. He gets maligned for being a .500 QB, but the guy delivered two rings on SB teams that had only 1 Pro Bowler on the roster each year (Osi Umenyiora in 2007 and Jason Pierre Paul in 2011). He's a first ballot HOFer in my book.

For the Giants it is tough.

Philly looked unstoppable last nigh.

For the Jets its tough. No Rodgers. Zack Wilson has a lot to prove and Tua looked really good in his first game of the series

Both teams in tough leagues and could be a long season.

For the Giants it is all about Barkley and for the Jets it will be Ground and Pound and their defense

If the Giants can't beat Arizona this weekend, the season is officially over. Cardinals are actively in tank mode and not a very good team. I know it's only 1 game, but it already looks like they will be fighting Washington to avoid the cellar in the NFC East.

Jets still have lots of good pieces on offense, and a stellar defense. No reason why they can't still have a good chance at the playoffs at least, as long as they don't start to get decimated by additional injuries.
