2 Newly Published Books @ 1919 World Series

Posted By: Ray Piskadlo
In February, two new books were published regarding the 1919 World Series...

1. Red Legs and Black Sox: Ed Roush and The Untold Story of The 1919 World Series. by Susan Dellinger (Ed Roush's granddaughter)

2. Burying the Black Sox: How Baseball's Cover-up of the 1919 World Series Almost Succeeded. by Gene Carney

I just finished the first one and truly enjoyed it. It's a great way to see how the World Series was viewed from the Reds perspective. Haven't gotten to the second one, but I'm hoping to start it this week.

Just thought I'd share...
Ray

BTW, is either The Big Bankroll or Life and Times of Rothstein worth reading???

She seemed like a nice woman and she said she and her mother had a very large collection of Roush's stuff, including his 1920 World Series medal (or whatever it is called). She and her mother were not oridinarily sellers, but I mentioned I would buy something and she gave me a scan of the season's pass. I don't think she knew what it was worth and accepted my offer (I unintentionally offered too much). I told her that Rousch's World Series award was worth lots of money, but I think she knew that. This was several years ago, but at the time she enthusiastic about Edd Rousch and his history and no doubt knew 2,000 times more about him that I.
