Sovereign "MIA" cards....tell us which ones ?

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Mission Accomplished....All-PIEDMONT T206 set (518 cards) done....So, now I am engaged in trying
for a complete run of SOVEREIGN cards. Although, the Piedmont set was quite a challenge, it was a
straight forward journey. Since we know that all T206's, except for Demmitt and O'Hara (St Louis)
variations, were printed with Piedmont backs.

This is not so....for the Sovereign brand.....Wagner, Plank, Magie, Joe Doyle (err), Lundgren (Cubs),
Elberfeld (port-Wash), Baker, Kleinow (Boston), Smith (Chi & Boston), and the 48 Southern Lgrs. for
starters do not exist with Sovereign backs. That leaves 467 cards maximum for a complete run.

Currently, I have 300+ T206's with Sovereign backs; therefore, one might say "I am on my way".....
not so fast....I have to determine how many other T206's are "MIA" with respect to the SOVEREIGN
brand. I don't want to be chasing after "non-existent" cards.

OK, you serious T206 collectors, please tell us which other T206's do not exist with SOVEREIGN backs ?

Two really tough SOVEREIGN 460 cards from the 6 - Super Print series of T206's

T-Rex TED

Posted By: robert a
Ted,

Maybe it would make sense to start with some of the difficult 150 only cards like:

Burch batting
G. Brown Cubs
Evers Blue Bckrd.
M. Brown Cubs on Shirt (Looks like Steve has this one from above post.)
Shulte Front
Sullivan
Powers
Pelty Horizontal
Patee
Reulbach hands at side
Donlin Hok

Can we confirm any of the above cards with Sovereign backs?
I don't have any from this list.

Rob
Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Robert A

Your suggestion is a good start......of the 11 known 150-only cards in the
T206 set,
Magie and Honus Wagner are of course not available with Sovereign backs.
And, so far the only other one from this group that has NOT been reported
with a Sovereign 150 back is Donlin (hands on knees).

A possible three other "150-only" candidates....Ames (hands/chest), Ewing,
and Schulte (front) do exist with Sovereign 150 backs.

Posted By: Scot Reader
Ted,
Let me know if you are able to find all six 350/460 superprints with the Sov 460 back.
I will keep on the lookout for Chase Blue + Chase Dark + Cobb Red + Evers Yellow.
(I know for a fact that Cobb Red with Sov 460 is out there--I have seen at least two examples. I also think I have seen Chase Blue + Chase Dark at some point but can't say for sure).
Scot

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
SCOT R

Thanx to you.....I have acquired the Chance and Matty shown here. And, I have been
offered a Chase (dark cap), which I hope to acquire. I am batting .500 so far on these
T206 Super Prints.

Art M. has a Red Cobb and I think Bill Brown has a Chase (blue); but, I cannot account
for an Evers (yellow sky). I will bet Brian Weisner has all of them....where are you Brian ?

T-Rex TED

Sovereign "MIA" cards....tell us which ones ?

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
STEVE M

You make a good point.......but, on the other hand, all the confirmed Sovereign cards are
too numerous to list. So, I am doing my homework (by comparing several large surveys of
T206's) and will list all the "non-confirmed" Sovereign cards from these surveys, which will
also take into account the 300+ cards I have.

Then, all us T206 dudes can check-out this list; and, see if we can confirm any of these
"non-confirmed" SOVEREIGN cards. I expect approx. 60-80 T206's fall into this category.

Sounds like another "dreaded survey" to me.....but, that's just fine.....you guys can dub
me the "Survey King".

TED Z

Sovereign "MIA" cards....tell us which ones ?

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
BILL B

In previous T206 Survey Threads we have proved that LUNDGREN (Cubs) exists only with
Piedmont 150 or 350 backs and very rarely with an EPDG back....no Sovereign.

I am convinced DONLIN (fielding) does not exist with a Sov 150 back.
And. I don't think SPENCER can be found with a Sov 150 or 350 back.

Plus, there are many Minor Leaguers (350 Series) that do not exist with Sovereign backs.

And, in the 460-only Series KLEINOW (Boston) and F. SMITH (Chi & Boston) do not exist
with Sov 460 backs.

You can add to your SS my CYoung (port) with a Sov 350 back, and my Chance (bat off)
with a Sov 460 back.

I'm still sorting thru all my T206's (I have over 1400 cards and 300+ are Sovereign): so, I
will input my data to your SS within the week.

TED Z
