Anyone Have Memorabilia Room Pictures to Share?
 

I always love looking at other's memorabilia rooms. I hope to have one of my own someday but for now I'd like to see some others.

Howard: There have been a few threads from time to time showcasing people's home displays. Unfortunately the search function doesn't laser in on all of them. I tried searches for "man cave" and "memorabilia room" and came up with a few. You'll need to be a bit creative to see what you can find; you'll probably stumble across a ton of interesting threads while you're looking. Getting there is half the fun.

Some of the threads are two or three years old so some of the picture links will have expired. I recall there being other threads - probably are plenty more - but you'll have to dig away. Maybe some of the other guys might come along and post photos of their awesome manly man caves in the mean time.

Howard, one thing to remember when you do put together your room...there is no right or wrong, just what pleases you. My room is still coming together with several things waiting to go to the framers. I will say though that the first link that David has there is one for Mike H. when he was re-doing his room and it inspired me quite a bit. I had never thought to do green walls before and I kept thinking about it for several months until we starting remodeling and I thought it was a great time to try it...and I'm very happy I did. Here's a couple of pictures of what I have so far.

Your baseball room is looking awesome! I also like the like wainscoating at the bottom of the wall. Very smart looking with the green walls...

Mike -- that's a terrific room, the displays are very well done and I really like the color coordination. It's also nice to see the 7-11 cups -- I still have dozens from my childhood and I think they've always been under-appreciated.

What's going to go on the empty lighted wall above the cups?

Thanks for the compliments guys. The lighted area with nothing on the wall used to be a closet that we opened up and put track lighting in so that we can spot light stuff when it goes on the wall. I've actually already put up two large ball holder cases (one on each side on the smaller walls of the closet) and the back wall is reserved for 1927 Yankees (with hopefully a Ruth and Gehrig within the next 2 years) and the 1919 Blacksox. What I found, and I'm sure everyone finds this, is that wall space gets taken up pretty quickly. I have an adjoining bedroom that I use as my home office that I'm going to use for additional wall space as well as the hallway that leads in to them. Even with that additional space, there is no way to display everything I have once it get's framed, so I may just plan out stuff so that things can be swapped out at any given time. I also plan on using shelves, like a lot of people here do, to add some variety as well as being able to display multiple small items.

Seriously... that has to be the best Hartland collection in existence. I wasn't even aware of many of those variations. What's with the plain blue/grey looking ones? Are they simply unfinished, prototypes, or something else?

Sorry, got all the Southlands too!! Just no room to display them. Don't know what specific blue grey ones you are talking about, but yes, there are some prototypes,a nd other non issued statues in the mess.

Now if only I could find a Hartland Football LSU Lineman to complete my set of sports Hartlands. Anyone out there have one?

Blue Aparicio + Grey Musial... both appear plain in color. Never seen these before. Are they unfinished prototypes? If so, where did you find them?

Here are a few pictures of some of my collection in custom display cases....

I went for the modern commercial look when I designed these. I ended up taking wasted, unused space and turned it into a fun way to display some of my collection in an ecclectic way.

Mostly all part of my Nolan Ryan collection with the exception of photo of the display of autographed balls. About 60-70% of the balls are HOF'ers and guys that threw 2 or more no-hitters in a career. The rest are ball related to Ryan's career (key milestones, etc.) Enjoy!

This is where I work everyday as I am a telecommuter. As you can see, I collect records and other stuff - but it is mostly a sports room.

The blue Aparicio I BELIEVE is a reshoot of the original molds done by the Missouri version of Hartlands/Stevens using a blue plastic. I say this because that is what happened with the solid black Mantle also seen in the photos. The black Mantle appeared on the cover of Collecting Figures magazine and is one of only two. Never saw another Aparicio. So, if these are from the original molds, are they original?

The grey Musial, again I assume is from the SCD authorized Hartlands from the Louisianna version of Hartlands, just not painted, HOWEVER this one is SOLID much heavier than the issued version. One of many including the others you asked about where all I can do is scratch my head and make an educated guess. I have a few I can't even do that!

Great looking displays guys.
Love the room Ricky, great collection of football helmets. Are the 2 footballs on the shelf trophy footballs (the lighter colored ball and the one next to it)? It looks like they have writing on them.

Both are trophy balls. One is a 1948 Bridgeport/South Pittsburg ball (white) and the other is Tracy vs. Manteca. The Manteca ball is special because it is from my wife's hometown. I also have a baseball jersey from the 10's-20's from the town as well. If anyone has Manteca,CA items (sports) or Redlands, CA items (sports) I'm buying!

Here are some photos of my office/baseball room. It's a small room, but the only room I am allowed to have in the house. Hopefully, in the near future I will get my dream basement to put all my items on display. For now some will have to sit in boxes in the closet.

Parker, keep holding out for a new basement but when you get it, don't give up your current room. It's always good to have room for expansion!! :D

Thanks Mike. My current home does not have a basement. Its my wife and I starter home that we bought about 3 years ago. Looking to start a family soon and upgrade in the next few years (depending on market). But one requirement is a basement or a nice large room I can use.

wpeters - Nice collection. I know very little about basketball and found it interesting that the net was closed. I did a quick google search and it seems that the baskets/nets were closed for 15 years after the invention of the game. Is this correct? Why did it take them so long to cut a hole in that sucker :confused:

Wpeters, that's an astounding collection!!! I particularly love the Connie Hawkins stuff. When I was into the game as a teenager, my dad would always tell me stories about the great man. He always said that he was one of the greatest he had ever seen!

IronHorse2130: I have a Spalding Basketball Guide from 1910-1911 that shows an ad for a closed basket, so it was almost 20 years that this was in effect. During games they had a man with a pole to poke the ball back out after a made basket. My thinking is that after 20 years he just got tired.

GKreindler: When Connie was inducted into the Hall, I naturally went to see him. When he arrived at the hotel and was going though the lobby, I asked him for his autograph and just gushed like a 12 year old school girl.

The next day I was waiting for the autograph session to start and I hear this voice behind me asking, "Do you have anything for me to sign?" It was indeed Connie and I was slightly more composed and we talked for a few minutes about his career. He was very gracious and happy to talk.

It is great when your hero turns out to be a good guy as well.

Can't imagine that dunking would be conducive with a closed net, either!

Nolan doesn't come to the midwest much as he is a pretty busy guy these days. The closest he's come to seeing my collection are the 83 items that I loaned and donated to the The Nolan Ryan Center in Alvin, TX (Ryan museum). I wanted to post pictures of two unbelieveably cool things that I received back from him, but my wife has snagged the camera for my daughter's dance competition in Chicago over the weekend. Thanks!

Thanks Jimmy! Yes, I am an admitted sick puppy, but it's sure been alot of fun along the way!

BTW, I must admit that this thread is one of my favorite topics. Looking at glimpses of everyone's awesome collections is really incredible! As collectors we all know how much work it takes to put together a collection like these.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I just reorganized my Philadelphia Eagles/Frankford Yellowjackets room a bit and snapped some photos. I have showed photos of my antique football room, and some individual Eagles items photos, but don't think I've showed the whole room here before. Sorry for all the photos, but I actually deleted a bunch to get down to this number :)

The panoramics shown are the 1929 Frankford Yellowjackets, the 1934 and 1935 Philadelphia Eagles. The footballs are mainly game used painted trophy presentation balls, with three team signed balls mixed in.
