The Foster and Cicotte are amazing. Congrats guys!

This is a little bit of March stuff and some I got today. Strayed a bit from my usual focus to get these. I remember reading about Babe Adams as a young kid and when I started collecting T206 I was surprised when he didn't have one. I've wanted to pick up a few of his cards but never really made it a priority. These three kind of fell into my lap recently. Also had to snag the cool mis-cut Broad Leaf thanks to a buddy (the colors are insane in person) and Matty's toughest T205 back. And quite possibly my favorite T206 as well.

Awesome pick up’s Luke

Congrats! I believe you are correct about it being Foster’s earliest individual card. I probably should have gone one more bid, but I’m glad to see that it made it’s way into your very nice collection and that it’s in the Net54 family.

You out bid me on the Matty but I am glad to see you got it. That Quinn is sick. If either ever need a new home let me know

Love that Foster Ken, very nice.

Finished my set yesterday after basically 6 years of kicking the idea around and finally taking the plunge. Card 24 was from Kevin Struss in the Matty and then the WaJo yesterday in a nice person-person trade at a McDonalds that had a transistor blow up while we were there. Pretty stoked!

Here's the full set:

I absolutely love the "poster" you made. I am going to have to steal that idea, and maybe even take my cards to a printer to get it done right. Wow!!

rainier2004 04-13-2018 10:45 AM

Thanks Orly - Its a PSA 5, crisp, clean back and really centering and a clean front. Its my nicest 796.

Thanks and good luck. When I produced the CJ, T3, etc. poster I had a professional editor clean up my draft before print. Costs have gone up significant so be prepared to spend around $60 and do not take it to Kinkos, use a profession printing company.

Thank you. Yes, it is a rare combo. Dean H has a much prettier one than mine - I tried to get him to sell or trade it to me, but he is too smart and brilliantly decided it best to keep it (wise move)....

Ryan, I think you have a problem and need help. The first step is to give away your collection so that you're not tempted to buy any more. I'll take it (them). You can thank me later.

Card show

Hi, I attended a card show today in LaCrosse, WI. I picked up this Cobb card, but the best part of the show was watching my four grandsons. I gave them each some money, which didn't last very long, so I gave them a little more. They had a great time and the dealers treated the kids like royalty and gave them some nice discounts. The kids are ages 9, 9, 10, and 11.

It was an expensive day, but it was a day that I will never forget. :)

Rick

joshuanip 04-21-2018 05:41 PM

Rick, that is awesome story on your grandsons!... And the Cobb is nice too!:D

iowadoc77 04-21-2018 05:48 PM

This is the future of card collecting. Awesome to see. When I take my kids dealers have usually always been great to them and given discounts and free stuff.

brass_rat 04-21-2018 08:50 PM

That's awesome. Certainly the post of the day -- those smiles are all completely genuine!

Been collecting T206’s for 5 years and have never owned a Lenox. Then I bought 2 in back to back evenings this week. First one came last night.....

Funny how that works.

Also the T51 Penn State baseball player cards (3 variants). Never thought to look into the original artwork, but immediately recognized that one from my favorite set.

I grabbed this one from Heritage Auctions. Should have gone another increment on the Mantle Topps Bucks PSA 6. And it's funny, probably half the T51 cards in the auction lot were from my duplicates at one point. I'm now part of the supply chain... ;-)
