Open For Bidding - Love of the Game Set Builder's Auction

Hi everybody:

Happy New Year! Best wishes for health and prosperity for everyone.

Just a quick note to let you know that the January Set Builder's Auction is now open for bidding. Closing date is Saturday, January 17.

The auction features something for everyone, from collector-grade prewar cards to mid grade Goudeys, lots of Hall of Fame autographs, Old Judges, T206s, and modern vintage cards as well. There's also a ton of cards from a large Hank Aaron collection that we're breaking up over the next two auctions.

As with all our Set Builder's auctions, this one has a reduced buyer's premium (12% for those who choose to pay by check or money order), and lower shipping costs than our Premier auction.

Have a look, place a bid, and best of luck to everyone!

Vince Carter Signed New Jersey Nets Replica Jersey

Nice Al :D

Hi guys I just registered on their site so how long before I can bid? Rob

Griffins 01-01-2015 05:33 PM

The description of the Don Mossi cards are pretty good too. Al features Mossi in every auction and the descriptions are always classic.

Rob,
I too just registered. Looks like you've got to wait for approval.

Something appears to be wrong with lot #229.

Griffins 01-01-2015 06:18 PM

which lot 229?

x2drich2000 01-01-2015 06:25 PM

The football lot, I sent a message to Al earlier tonight about it.

iowadoc77 01-01-2015 07:19 PM

Thanks Al for another good lineup. LOTG always one of the best.

Bigb13 01-01-2015 07:38 PM

Hi everyone!

Hope all is well.

Thanks for the comments on the descriptions - I try and have fun with them when I can.

To answer a couple of questions -

1) I see the issue with lot 229. I had withdrawn a lot and reinstated it, and it looks like the system did not change the lot number of the one I reinstated. I just withdrew the American Caramel certificate; if someone who is interested in the football lot would try again, I'll know if it's been fixed. If not, I'll run that lot in the next auction.

2) Please allow 24-48 hours for approval of new auction registrations. I generally check references, and since today is a holiday, everyone is closed for the day. Most people who registered today will be approved tomorrow.

Thanks again for the comments, and good luck to everyone!

-Al

Hey, Art, lot 281 and 282 are duplicates!

Hey Al, just tried lot 229 again, bid count went from 6 to 7, but still not showing a current bid or an increase in the minimum bid amount.

Great auction! Top class auctioneer, and I always have fun bidding.

The Don Mossi fanfest is a glorious thing. Good luck to all in LotG-

Cheers

Well I still can not bid guessing they don't want my money.

The auction is open for another 15 days, and Al already answered your question

Hi there!

Please check your email - I sent you one this morning with an additional question about your registration. Unfortunately I did not receive a response.

You did call me at 8:30 this evening; I was at a restaurant eating dinner with my family so I did not answer the phone. I'm not currently somewhere that I can approve auction registrations. If you'd be so kind as to respond to my email, I will take care of your registration in the morning.

Thanks for your patience!

-Al

PS: The issue with Lot 229 is also fixed; anyone interested in bidding in the football lot can now bid freely. The American Caramel stock certificate will be in a future auction.

Great auction Al.

bobbyw8469 01-02-2015 07:41 PM

Al...is lot #229 finally fixed?

Bigb13 01-02-2015 07:43 PM

Yes he has and it's been 48hrs. I looked for an email but nothing no email. As for the phone call I was under the impression I was calling a business not a private number. Rob

Perhaps you mistyped your email address when you registered? That's the email address I used when I reached out to you this morning. It was the first thing I did when I got into the office, before I approved all the other registrations from New Year's Day.

I'd prefer not to explain the issue on the board, so I will send you a PM, but I do think it's important to note here that I responded immediately this morning - if only because I think it's fair for me to respond in kind when a suggestion is made on a public forum that I'm somehow being negligent.

Best,
-Al

Hard to believe someone is ragging on Al. Unbelievable.

MVSNYC 01-02-2015 08:02 PM

Just a random note about Al, and the level of service LOTG provides.

I recently told him that I had about a 1/2 dozen T206 cards (nothing major, just some nice rare back examples)...he offered to drive my way (about an hour +) to meet with me and collect the pieces in person. It's little things like that, which sets Al apart.

cardsfan73 01-02-2015 08:18 PM

My first time bidding w/ an auction house. I missed out on the first set builders auction and have been looking forward to another. When I went to register I had a few questions and Al was very prompt & friendly with his replies.

Happy New Year & good luck with the auction!

Thanks,
Scott

This sounds like a headache just waiting to happen.

Good luck with the auction, Al!

Truly something for everyone. Somehow I am going to have to prioritize what I try to bid on......

Another great LOTG auction

Bigb13 01-03-2015 08:50 AM

All I wanted to do was bid. And no Paul you could be the headache. Rob
