Jackie Robinson's first Major League Baseball contract

So.. what happened to the live auction selling that Jackie Robinson's first Major League Baseball contract? Was it over? How come I couldn't found any update of that auction anywhere?

Looks like it got pulled from the auction and has vanished from their website completely. That can't be good.

A 'Jackie Robinson' auction is mentioned on their site with a date of 12/30, but no details are included.

It may have sold privately, I believe Ken somewhere had alluded to that possibility.

Or we have a mega windup with no pitch.

On the Goldin site it says "Auction February 2018 at the site of Future Jackie Robinson Museum NYC". Keep scrolling on the carousel at the top of the page and it eventually appears.

Was odd from day 1. Basically my recollection was they essentially said "we are going to sell at an auction, but also might sell privately if someone steps up." Whole thing seemed to me like, I don't now, like possibly a set up for publicity?

Originally Nov 16th, then Dec 6th, now Feb 2018.

I heard that they aren't getting any bidders for pre-approval so they are hoping the hype ($36 million appraisal?!?) causes a private sale to occur. Probably impossible to confirm though.

I am surprised Ken has not clarified the status, after all that initial publicity.

That's the problem with having the "world's most valuable" sports collectible....no other collectors can afford it.

Sure it was a foregone conclusion from day 1 that this wouldn't end up in the hands of a private bidder. All of this has just been to generate publicity for the AH.

Yes, Captain Obvious officially on duty.
