Opinions on this Mantle Ball?

I received this as a gift a very long time ago from a relative who was trying to do something nice. I have a COA, but it's dated 1998, which is after his death. I sent it to PSA back in 2011 and they said "Questionable Authenticity." (Questions below the pictures)

Is it worth trying again to get it authenticated? If not, I'd like to remove the signature from the ball and keep just the ball (cuz it's cool). Any recommendations on removing the signature without damaging the ball?

Thanks.

You could send a picture to Beckett for a quick opinion, or post in the "Out or Safe" facebook autograph group, assuming you don't get the help you're looking for on here.

sadly, it's a fakey fantle. Just enjoy it the way it is why ruin a perfectly good fake. IMHO, it's Out. Sorry:(

Thanks all. Any thoughts on removing the sig? I'm pretty sure I can use alcohol, but I don't know if that will damage the ball.

I don't know how they did it, but this old ball had signature removals and then an Authentic "Cadillac" Mantle signature was added after the fact. Hopefully, someone will chime in that knows how it's done.
