Why did this Portland Beaver PCL Dingman Postcard go so high?

I watch quite a few old RPPCs and collect quite a few. I have seen some postcards similar (maybe not exactly the same?) to this sell before. I can't recall one going close to this high though. My thought was 300-400 but I guess I don't know as much as I thought? :) There were 3 bidders over $700!! What gives?

Very cool postcard! Maybe price reflects competing family members.

That is a super cool PC. I've been noticing that PCL has been hot recently. Maybe guys collecting Obaks and/or Zeenuts are looking for a companion piece for a display. McCredie and Rapps are in the PCL HOF and Krapp is a popular player among PCL collectors. Also, the writing on the back talking about the 1910 season and the Oakland vs. Portland match-up is interesting as well. You don't always see that with PCs. Maybe the sender and/or receiver are significant too. A PCL expert might know. It sure does have a lot going for it which explains the price (to me anyways).

Two bidders put in the "I'm getting this no matter what" snipes.

Oh, did I forget to tell everyone that I am certainly no relation to Babe Ruth?
