spastic ebayer bidding pattern

I think this guy just likes to bid? I don't post too many of these but this one is sort of interesting...or redundant?

He's the guy that checks the door 15 times when he leaves the house because he is afraid that he left it unlocked...

Ronnie73 02-26-2012 07:58 PM

He sure does like to bid. I think whats happining is he's increasing his proxy bid each time for who knows what reason but it's only gonna show the minimum bid currently winning. As of right now, the winning bid is $51 so all 18 of his bids show $51. As someone bids higher than his second bid out of the 18, then it will show the actual amount for that bid. Maybe he's rolling his pennies and everytime he has a dollar of pennies rolled, he increases his proxy bid by a dollar.

frankbmd 02-26-2012 08:07 PM

55 minutes to go,.....

4 bids /minute......

This guy could place 220 more bids if he really wants the card.

glchen 02-26-2012 08:08 PM

Either he's weird or he's trying to make people think this auction is being shilled or something else so that they avoid this auction.

He's not a Bergen collector. He's going crazy on Lake as well.

itjclarke 02-26-2012 08:36 PM

I couldn't help bidding the Bergen up $1 to break up his streak

Cooper1927 02-26-2012 09:00 PM

I sure am glad he won. The effects of a loss by this bidder may be too much for anyone to handle...

frankbmd 02-26-2012 09:08 PM

2-1

He was sniped on the Lake card (PSA 2) with rare Sweet Caporal back for $98, but won the Bergen and Dunn cards from the same seller.

D. Bergin 02-26-2012 09:46 PM

I had a guy like this last week. Bid like 50 times on the same item, all in tiny increments. He did eventually win it but you know bidders like this are the reason a lot of sellers get accused of shilling.

I'm guessing you're being sarcastic about the rare SC? Why did this card go for $98?

jcmtiger 02-26-2012 10:02 PM

Agree Dave, sometimes a lot of paranoa (spelling) on this board about shilling. I think a lot of times it is not shilling. It's just some crazy bidder.

When I run into those types of bidders, I purposefully bid them up as high as I am comfortable with w/o becoming high bidder. When they have that many bids, it is easy to add a ton of $$ to their high bid. I figure it's a lesson in how to bid.

T206DK 02-26-2012 11:10 PM

crazy bidder or shill ?

how can you tell anymore with the hidden screen names.

Clutch-Hitter 02-27-2012 09:25 AM

PSA 2 T206 commons are usually 25.00 - 30.00, aren't they?

that sounds right

Was the comment about the rare back on Lake tongue in cheek??? I don't pay attention to factory numbers on those SC cards so I didn't know. If it's a common factory number, someone paid waay too much for the Lake...

My tongue is frequently in my cheek. Finding two bidders who don't know the value of a PSA 2 Lake ($22-25 IMO) is a seller's dream come true.

Hopefully all will come to learn that my comments are more likely to be sarcastic than idiotic (although the latter is not impossible).

Leon - 51 bids is impressive, but get a load of this Spastic Ebay Bidder : 84 bids on this item and counting : (1 guy accounts for 95% of the bids while bidder 2 accounts for the other 4%... Hmmm - 84 bids and still 5 days left... Go figure. I guess the guy must really want the card and is trying to lay low so he does not out the auction... : )

And he has a 2400 feedback. Hardly a newbie. His recent history does not suggest a multiple bidding pattern. He either has a virus or perhaps he has the missing corner from the card. Five days + to go. We'll have to follow this auction to completion.

mordecaibrown 02-27-2012 10:22 PM

Spastic Reagan Bidder

If you look at the bid history for the Reagan, the item info on the right side lists that the reserve was met (must have had an initial reserve price).

My guess would be he was minimally increasing his bid until he hit the reserve price. Not how I would go about it, but I guess it is a method....

T206Collector 02-28-2012 07:11 AM

Bid shilling is another possibility, since many people search for T206s based on the number of bids placed on the auction. It is a way to generate interest in your auction, without risking outbidding a true high bidder.

Or the guy is crazy.

Or stupid.

BleedinBlue 02-28-2012 09:10 AM

Or maybe...

He's just trying to have some fun with you all and see what conspiracy theories pop up.
