Hi Chris. For me, half the fun of acquiring something is displaying it. I've photographed or scanned literally thousands of items, and I've filled a website with many of the images.

Thanks, fellas and Chris I completely agree. Not sure if it's Hershberger or not because artist often take liberties with such things but I'm pretty sure an image similar to this one was used to create the art.

Sometimes the lines can be blurred between artistic photography and memorabilia room displays. Sort of like those Venn Diagrams with overlapping circles, that we used to do in school (old farts like me, anyway).

I'll post a pic that perhaps crosses both worlds. Here's a Babe Ruth themed display...

I snapped this picture of the window of the long-gone National Pastime store on Main Street in Cooperstown back in 2007. Thought it was sorta artsy.

Seriously, I typically stay away from the Ladies' souvenirs, but those are sooooo cool looking. How did you ever find those (let alone in pristine condition?)

And the Vandy Glove / Box... Wiping drool off chin as we speak. If N54 had a jealousy emoji, I'd definitely insert it here!

Reluctant to shift the focus to Northern Ohio when we're on a nice Cincy roll. But this photo kind of belongs here too (in honor of the dearly departed Chief Wahoo...)

Maybe a mod can rotate it, as I'm done fiddling with it in futility. :mad: (fixed :D )

Between the Dolls in the other thread, and now these Purses... I am beginning to re-think my sexuality. Just promise me it won't be a pink version... I'm going for the Black :o

Here's my Walt Bussey equipment collection. He captained a semi-pro team in Iowa that played against the Japanese Base Ball Association, a bloomer team, the Buxton Wonders and the Kansas City Giants (black).

The second picture is a 1950's montage where I tried to combine all of my collecting interests. The Williams photo is signed to Gene Woodling. The Mantle has a 1955 signature. The scorebook was scored personally by Mel Ott while he was an announcer for the 1958 Detroit Tigers. It is turned to a Yankees game he scored on the day I was born. This was a moment that was wonderful for all, as I had not yet spoken and only yelled a few times.

David, I think we previously discussed our mutual love for that shop in Cooperstown (National Pastime). My dad and I used to love perusing it during our annual pilgrimage up to the Hall. He even did this pen & ink sketch.

Hey thanks for rotating, Rob! Not sure quite how you work your magic...

But I did make a landmark discovery... If I take the photo the regular way, net54 will always rotate it sideways. But if I snap it in "landscape" (horizontal) format, net54 will leave it as-is.

No matter how much I edit/rotate the photo on my computer, net54 wants it to display sideways. So from now-on, I'll only take the pics horizontally. No more stiff necks! :cool:

How big is the pennant on a stick? Is the stick attached, or does it slide out? Never seen that one!

Thanks, Mark. The pennant is attached to a stick and another thing that's unusual is it's made of a semi-gloss canvas type material. Never seen another made that that way...

Mr Redlegs says thanks he does have an easel back and I'm still trying to find out his origin...

David, here's a photo of the Mellon Stuart Baseball Club piece in your Cooperstown storefront photo -- I purchased it from the National Pastime when they started selling off some of their material.

I need to start taking photos with a camera, not my phone!

Greg - Very neat to see something from my NP window photo show up in your collection. Cooperstown just isn't the same without the National Pastime. Most of the stores in C'town sell what I'd call "manufactured memorabilia" but the NP had a ton or three of genuine old baseball artifacts, the real da kine, and was the size of a small barn. Here's another photo I took that shows more of the storefront.

Keeping in the spirit of this thread I'll offer up a few snapshots of various corners of our house and my Fortress of Solitude. Not as nice as a lot of the tableaus that have been posted here but hopefully not without their aesthetic.

A couple of bookshelves worth of Yankees stuff. The figurines are the '61 Yanks and manufactured by Danbury Mint I believe. The hat is purported to be Moose Skowron's 1957 ball cap so I might have seen him wearing the very same when I was a boy at Yankee Stadium in those days.

A display case in the living room with an eclectic sample of the kinds of cards I collect. The Japanese item on the left is a 1950 Shonen Premium of Kaoru Betto which I think is super-cool. People are pretty blown away when they see the contents of the case because they had no idea that baseball cards can be so funky.

A koa curios cabinet upstairs presenting three different themes. Top shelf has to do with the family backgrounds of my Dutch wife and myself; middle shelf is Hawaiiana which is a passion developed after living in the islands for many years; bottom shelf is a random assortment of baseball stuff.

Quick question for you...

I have the 1975 Reds version of the Danbury Mint "Line-up" Display. Same size as your '61 Yankees, I'd assume.

Where did you find the acrylic cover for yours? It adds tremendous aesthetic value, and protects it from dust at the same time. Is that something Danbury Mint put out, or did you have it custom made?

Mark: It was at least ten years ago that I acquired the '61 Yankees piece and I can't remember any of the particulars as to AH, price etc but I do remember that it arrived in a huge box with an ungodly amount of packing peanuts, and it took me an hour to unpack and clean up. The styrofoam-static electricity thing made for a hell of a mess. In answer to your question the acrylic case was included in the lot. It fits like a glove in the lip around the base. I can't say positively but I'm pretty comfortable guessing that it was offered by Danbury Mint and not fabricated by a previous owner after-market. Do you know if they did any other teams/years? Several years back I did a cursory search of the 'net to see if there were, say, the 1912 New York Giants or the '27 Yankees. The imagination just swoons at the possibility. Danbury did a great job - the likenesses are pretty darn good.

I don't think Danbury made cases for those sets. If you look them up on Worthpoint out of the hundreds of sets listed you only see a very few with cases, and the cases are not uniform.

David, if yours was home-made, then someone really did a bang-up precision job.

Also, Danbury did make a ‘27 Yankees as well as a more modern Yankees. I cannot recall the exact year, but it has Jeter, Bernie, O’Neill, Posada, etc. So most likely one of those late ‘90s Teams. I think they also did the 1969 Mets, 1974 Athletics and 1955 Bums. Perhaps even more...

And I strongly agree with two things you said ...

1. For a more contemporary piece, these were very well executed.
2. Those static-infused styrofoam peanuts should be outlawed!

Evidently, wrestling chicks dig the long ball.
 

I don't remember who these ladies are but they're not shy.

BTW, these are the 1927 New York Yankees and 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Danbury Mint teams. I also have the 1961 Yankees but, no more wrestling foxes. I am more than a little upset that they didn't make any Cardinals teams- like the 1934 Gas House Gang or the '64 or '67 Redbirds. I have an order form with all the available teams listed; somewhere. I'll try to find it and list the teams in the next couple of days.

Most of my baseball stuff is confined to my library. Didn't think it would be fair to my wife to impose pictures of sweaty men all over the house. The koa cabinet is one of just a few things in the house at-large - there is a Kreindler in the stairwell and a photo of Moose Skowron in the powder room :) - that might tip a person off that a vintage baseball collector lived here, and this way we can also present stuff that is meaningful to the both of us.

Creating detail images of my memorabilia is another aspect of photography I really enjoy and I've always thought this image of "The Schnozz" Ernie Lombardi was used to make this pin.

Some years ago we were privileged to have facets of our collection included in a series of 'Collectographs' created by an absolutely wonderful photographer, Mr. Tony Dube, out of CT.

He came to our home for the photoshoots and brought these amazing arrangements to life. The images of our collection, along with that of several other collectors were reflected in a calendar he published in 2014.

My everlasting thanks to Tony!
