T206musueum.com why?

Is it that people don’t care about being ripped off or being lied too or just don’t know any better?

I get it if you want to dig thru what is credible on the site and take the time to decipher fact from potential fiction on your own personal time I get it your choice.

But I wonder in the world of auction houses where scandal seems to raise its ugly head more often than not. Why on earth would you want to tie your legitimate business in any way to a site that has been proven to be nothing more than a front for illegal activity?

http://www.goodwinandco.com/LotDetai...-Copy%e2%80%9d

"ranked as the 9th scarcest T206 on the renowned T206 Museum listing"

They all seem to do it REA, Goodwin etc.

Trying to bring creditability to an auction listing by quoting or linking to site know for fraud just seems odd to me perhaps I’m alone on this. I would think I would want my business as far away from this guy as I could get.

Surely an auction house of any value has enough creditability to list a back ranking or detail that a back is tougher than others or ranked by collectors without linking to dirtbagscamville.com am I the only who finds this odd?

They even admit on the front page…of course after he got busted stealing 10's of thousands of dollars from people by the FBI.

Just curious how many of you use this site and consider it a value after knowing what it was all about if you will?

Cheers,

John

P.S. Not a shot at Goodwin or Joe T. both great guys and a class act auction house IMO. But hate to see anyone of value like these guys be associated with this clown Chan in anyway.

I only vaguely know of what you're referring to, but would like to know the full story. Were they selling T206 with self-altered backs on thier site?

I found the site to be informative, but have never purchased anything there.
I've also found the site to lack a certain degree of professionalism, given the terrible grammer that is used throughout-

"The negative black printing is in very fine details and it disproves the possibility of the black ink penetrate the cardboard. It also refutes the odds of the black ink wasn't completely dry during printing process and another cardboard stacked on top and the color transferred onto it."

What you say may be true John, but according to t206museum.com...

I guess they are number 1 until a better site comes along.

I took it as gospel before I found Net54 but after reading the FBI investigation work you guys did I rarely go back. The news articles on the rare card sales are interesting.

I hadn't been to that site ever since the scandal was exposed years ago. I agree that it is odd for reputable auction sites to refer to t206museum -- they would be better served referring to Scot Reader's "Inside T206" or perhaps Trae's T206.org site if they want to spice up their auction descriptions.

I also stay away from that site. Once I learned the story of their "creations" I could care less what they have to say about T206 cards, or anything else for that matter. Also, kudos to the fine folks who exposed these idiots fraud ;)

Trae's site T206.org is far better & ran by a very nice guy :)

Sincerely, Clayton

Thank you, Chuck, and Clayton! :) One of these days T206.org will focus on more of the recent events and information like "that other site". We have a new site in progress, it's just slow going as a side project.

It would almost be worse...

The motivation is money

Just another con game on the net. t206museum is all dressed up with no where to go. What a disgrace!

Net54 is truly an excellent asset for those of us that love the hobby. Thanks for the reminder about the fakes.
