Forging old wine bottle labels

It's not just forging a collectible, but a brand name product-- pirating. Double legal whammy, plus the wine makers may civilly sue him. I'm sure piracy is prosecuted hard these days.

This makes me think, why would someone pay $1M for a bottle of wine, but I'm sure the guy drinking the wine is thinking, why would someone pay $1M for a baseball card.

That's what I was thinking. If the bogus wine tasted like the 4-figure wine to the duped, they should be drinking cheaper wine.

There are several versions of this article - some go into more detail on the paper he used to forge the labels, which I thought was the most interesting part - obviously people were more interested in what was IN the bottle, so could miss label age issues.

Great read, on another site one of his former wine house managers gives his side of the story.
