Bought raw card on ebay--came back N5.

I ordered a raw card off of Ebay, the person is also a poster on here. and sent it into PSA for grading.

Had the card for a couple days, took 3 days to arrive at PSA. Their 8 day express took them 17 days once they even logged it into their system.

On the 31st day since purchase (not receipt), PSA said it was N5—altered stock.

The item was listed as 100% authentic, which, if it is altered stock, is not 100% authentic.

I contacted the seller the day I got the grade in the email—no answer.

Sent a second message saying I just want to return it—no answer.

Sent a photo of the card in the soft holder with the PSA sticker on it showing it to be altered—no answer.

Sent another message telling him I’d file with ebay for a refund and I’d catch up with him on net 54 afterwards.

Then I got a response—missed your messages, was on vacation. Ok, possible.

His exact response was: As stated in listing I guaranteed it to be authentic with no creases. I am not a professional grader. I have had it for at least 15yrs. Have no clue why PSA said it was altered. Sorry you waited past the 30days. If you didnt like it you should have returned it. But now your having buyers remorse.

So that is one way of many to tell me to jam it. I won't get anywhere with him.

If he is not a professional grader, how can he offer a 100% guarantee? Just lip service on his part I suppose.

I’m looking for opinions or similar stories here. I’m not going to name the person or the card, unless they respond to this thread.

That sucks

Can you just open an ebay case? Or is it too late for that?

A technicality such as going over by a few days for a return, when determining an alteration, wouldn't help his cause pertaining to this forum. Kind of like Judge Judy's America. :) I am sure it does matter for the technical ebay rules. And if I were the seller I would have no issue with the refund.
That is just my view on it.

Doesn’t PayPal give you 180 days? Seems like an easy item not as described case.

Altered stock is regularly given for cards that have been pressed over time by storage in a non-recessed screwdown holder. It does not mean anything was intentionally added to the card like extra gloss or rebuilt corners, FWIW.
If you paid through PayPal, you have like six months to do a return.

With a response like that, you need to out him to possibly save other board members future similar situations.
