2009 Ohio Sports Collector Convention April 17-19th

Posted By: Paul Fusco
Good morning gentlemen. First I would like to thank all of the forum members that came to our show last and helped to make it a huge success. The dates for next year's show are April 17th-19th. Same location, the Holiday Inn in Strongsville Ohio. Once again, the focus of the show will be pre-1970 cards and memorabilia with many dealers having a nice stock of pre-war material. If any members of the forum would like to set up and sell, feel free to contact me. Last year the show was very well received. I did hear some complaints that there was too much vintage material at the show and not enoough modern stuff. That won't change. Our goal is to provide a once a year venue for strictly vintage material. Make plans now to join us. Cleveland is an easy and cheap town to fly in and out of and the show is a hotel just a few miles from the airport. Have a great day gentlemen.

Anecdotally, what I saw on Friday was there were probably less then a dozen OJs and only 1 dealer that had more then 1 or 2 caramel cards in the whole show. It's certainly better then any other local show, but I'll put in a request that more focus be put on earlier stuff.

Posted By: Paul Fusco
Not really sure yet if we have an auction or not. Our focus this past year was just to get the show up and running again. Even though it was well received, there is much room for improvement. I agree that more pre-war cards would nice. Now that members of the forum know that the show is legit again, perhaps I can convince some members of the forum to come and set up as dealers so that we can indeed have more vintage that last year. At this point my focus is still on improving the show to make it a once a year destination for older material outside the National. So perhaps I can convince Josh Siegel to do an auction. Last year we had Lelands and Hunt Auction in attendance. Bill Huggins wanted to come but his 50th birthday got in the way and this year Heritage want to come to promote their auctions. So between us here at Fusco Auctions and the other four that will be there this year, maybe one of us can do a small auction Saturday night. I'll keep you folks posted with more info. Thanks for your interest and support. Together we can make this show a mecca for vintage cards.
