I need old (1980's-90's) Baseball Card Price Guides

Posted By: Nick
I'm doing research and need to look up the value of a few cards during the 1980's and 1990's. Does anyone have any old Beckett's or Americana Guides? It'd be helping a ton!

Thanks
Nick

Posted By: Richard
Nick -

Email me at rman444@hotmail.com

I threw most of them out about 6 months ago, but I may still have a few, including the first edition of the Beckett annual. At the very least, I can email you prices so you don't have to buy - depending on how much info you need.

Posted By: Bob D
I've the following old price guides and can look up any prices you'd like. Some examples;
1975 checklist/price list, missing the cover but from the Sport Hobbyist I believe. T206's are 50 cents, 33 Goudeys $3

Sport Americana BB Card Price Guide #3 (1981) T206s $4.50, 33 Goudeys $8

SCD Standard Catalog of BB Cards #3 (1992) T206s $100, 33 Goudey $75.

I guess T206s were a better investment than Goudeys.

Bob

Like most people, you are going to focus on cards from when you were a kid first. Thus, Goudeys and other 30s sets carried hefty price tags in the 70s and early 80s. Once the baby bommers hit the market, 50s and 60s cards took off. The mid to late 80s when the vintage market, and t206s in particular took off. The huge spike t206s can be attributed to Jim Copeland paying double what was considered the going rate and prices moved right up along with increasing desire and willingness to pay for top condition cards. You can also blame him indirectly for the abundance of trimmed and altered cards that now exist because everyone wanted a piece of the Copeland pie.

Jay

I like to sit outside, drink beer and yell at people.
